THE 500K PLAYS EDITION

I recorded this episode 3 hours after getting back from Camp Bestival, which might be a friendly family festival but one that still left me broken, dusty and sleep deprived from sleeping in a tent for four nights. So excuse a couple of unforced errors, an even more random selection of tracks than usual and forgetting to record the first minute or so! I opened with a couple of tracks from acts I saw over the weekend - Sister Sledge and Kool & The Gang, fitted in a few slow funky bubblers, a good few of my own and a couple of new promos. 

For the second hour I welcomed Wilson Frisk (AKA Craig Horsley) on to the show for a lovely guest mix. Craig has a show called Housebound which goes out every Wednesday 6-8pm UK on People’s City Radio, and I was honoured to do a guest mix for his show just a few weeks back. It’s worked out really nicely being able to return the favour and invite Wilson on so soon after. 

Expect high energy, hip-hop influenced vibes on this one. BPMs are pretty high, we’ve got lots of hip house and jackin stuff, and a nice bit of swagger to this mix.

Charly Angelz spent the best part of 2020 working in the studio
during the COVID lockdown producing a string of house & disco tracks in the process! Having lost her DJ residencies like so many other DJ’s due to the pandemic, Charly quickly decided to act on her creativity by jumping into the world of music production!

Charly's first forays into making music coupled with her broad music knowledge and influence has helped her gain instant recognition!, with her tracks being signed to the likes of Tropical Disco, Plastik People, Kolour Recordings, Nervous Records, Blockhead Recordings, Smashing Trax, Disco Balls, Groovy Riddim and more!

With plenty of support from many reputable DJ’s, numerous high
chart positions including number 1’s. Charly is already accomplishing her goal by connecting with people through her
music. She’s on a mission to bring people together; especially
during these tough times and she’ll continue to strive to make
people groove and feel happy!

This one is all about going through the gears and world building - we rarely get to showcase this type of set but we think we should do more of it. Goz fits a hell of a lot in to this sonic jamboree, and demonstrates how he can hold court with the dance floor as some kind of Pied Piper of Disco. Iry Sabir is a Yorkshire based DJ who has been around the scene for over 20 years. He started to play in 2002 until 2008 & then put things on hold to raise his family. It wasn't until 2019 where he started to pick things back up & he's slowly built up his reputation with a number of mixes ranging from Soulful House, Nu Disco, Groove, Funk, Lounge & New Retro Wave. He's done a number of Guest Mixes such as Black Light Disco, Magic Track, Discotheque, HAWT, Feel Good Fridays & Disco Waltons.
