The Sustain-Release co-founder steps up to the Phonica mix just ahead of the acclaimed festival’s 11th year. 
New York has an iconic history when it comes to club music, and over the years has seen many great names emerge from its underground scene. In modern times, Aurora Halal is undoubtedly one of those names. 
Aurora has become a staple at forward-thinking institutions like Berghain, De School, and her home base, Nowadays, where she holds a residency. Alongside her international touring, she’s carved out her own vital space through the long-running Mutual Dreaming parties and Sustain-Release, the DIY-rooted festival she co-founded, which continues to push boundaries as it enters its second decade.
Her Phonica mix offers a vivid snapshot of her deep, intuitive approach to DJing—captured live at Mansions, a cozy NYC wine bar turned house party haven. Known for her genre-fluid sets that blend hypnotic techno, house, acid and experimental textures this is the perfect calling card to showcase why she can hold it down with a range of greats like DJ Nobu, Vladimir Ivkovic and more.
We had a chat about the mix with Aurora as well as touching off Sustain and some of her favorite moments at the festival.

Third artist to grace us in this Clone-curated month of October, The Hague’s one-and-only analogue wizard Legowelt surfaces with a mix sprawling from esoteric proto-techno to hallucinogenic electro, via trance-infused dreamscapes, eerie pop and mystique-imbued downtempo. As the true master of the synths he is, Legowelt has us traveling far and deep into a layered multiverse of dazzling hardware stutter and iridescent machine funk out a frizzling, VHS-supported headspace. Effusively vivid and durably haunting 8-bit-informed tapestries succeed through this glitchy maze of fractured tempi and vectorial stunts, cascading seamlessly as Legowelt pulls off yet another magnetic expression of retro-laced granularity and enhanced organic synthesis. skyra is one of the local artists who has put Georgia's underground scene firmly on the map. His regular appearances at Tbilisi's cult Bassiani club have been key to that, and in August, he will showcase exactly what he's all about when he plays live for us at Selectors with Hamatsuki: deep but driving house music that's bathed in lush melodics but never short on low-end power. Next year, he has plenty of music coming up, including a release on Unforeseen with Hamatsuki.

To get you in the mood for all that is to come, he has laid down a one-hour live showcase that layers up smooth, supple, seductive drums with dreamy pads and neon melodies. The whole set glows with a late-night warmth and finds a perfect balance between beauty and beat-driven hypnosis.

Biography : 
Harnessing telluric currents that flow deep under a hypnotic pulse.

As a resident at the thriving Technoon parties in Brussels, A. Brehme symbiotically combines his two long-standing passions of producing records and sculpting intense sets, which are grounded from the ambient, psychedelic and minimalist perspective of electronic music. Whether elaborating a savant strain of hypersensitive deep techno in his Brussels studio or displaying his ability to kick up a veil of dust from the floors of dark rooms with metrically repetitive mixes, he embodies a purist approach to sound where measured intensity is key.

The mind begins searching for loopholes within loops, seeking out a tear in a tightly knit ambient soundscape that is rendered tangible by lengthened hypnosis, thoughtful control, and the eventual loss of all spatial and temporal coordinates.

Through the co-existing dynamics of inversion and introversion, a natural and ethereal vibe is coaxed into the club’s dark mechanics. Genres coalesce, rules of time and space become irrelevant and as the grip on mundane realities loosen, an inner light appears and deeper self inquisition though sound is possible. In a perpetual forward motion, fogged textures mesh with brumous, reverb-drenched layers. Systematic beat patterns and sharp percussion threaten to break out and cause collapse, creating a fragile state of equilibrium; a seductive and inescapable hypnosis.
