Bit of a last minute entry to the CDR Dimensions competition - I was away on holiday til 2 days ago (glad they extended the deadline). 

Done in Cubase/Maschine - basically just the samples below, plus an extra kick and a Novation Basstation 2. Just messed around with it til something started sounding good :-)

One thing about working with Dennis Coffey: the man likes to keep things Detroit-centric as much as possible. Which is great. The sheer amount of talent coming out of the D is incredible, and his latest album was heavily enriched by contributions from some of the city's finest performers, including Mayer Hawthorne, Mick Collins of The Dirtbombs, Rachel Nagy of The Detroit Cobras and more. So it came as no surprise that when we started the discussions about putting together a remix compilation, the plan was to pull from Detroit's extremely rich electronic community.
We're partnering up with Fat Beats to give away the whole collection soon, which includes contributions from Dabrye, 14KT, Recloose, Nick Speed &amp; more, but to kick things off we wanted to share with you this excellent remix from Ghostly's Shigeto. The Michigan beat maker puts a distinctive bounce underneath "All Your Goodies Are Gone," somewhere in between garage house and the signature Motor City hip-hop sound characterized by innovators like Jay Dilla. The remix collection, titled Outer Galaxies: Dennis Coffey Reinterpreted will be out soon. Dennis Coffey's Dennis Coffey album and Shigeto's Full Circle are out now.

2024 was as a tumultuous period for Ribeiro, and the album’s contemplative and somber moments, captured deftly and naturally recorded at home are an open invitation for the listener. The organic recordings allow Ribeiro’s emotive playing to shine right through, making the album feel appropriately personal. The music is as much of a time capsule where Ribeiro could bury the entirety of 2024’s occurrences and struggles for others to pick up and give them a moment of pause, to reflect upon their own life.

In a musical world where over-processing and manipulation obfuscate intent and feeling; Contemplation is vulnerable. Putting his stake in the ground and claiming his artistic space, Ribeiro refuses to let heartbreak or insecurities stand in his way and his music comforts you so much it’ll empower you to feel the same.

New York's Arthur's Landing is far from a cover project.  Made up of a collective of many of the late Arthur Russell's closest friends and collaborators, the group uses their experiences working with Arthur as a jumping off point to create new material out of song fragments, performance exercises, and some of the material on which they worked together with much loved artist.  On "Love Dancing," the Loose Joints classic "Is It All Over My Face" becomes a sparse meditation on the feelings, akin to a crush, that music can inspire.  The track features vocals from Arthur Russell's good friend Joyce Bowden, as well as Hercules And Love Affair's Nomi.
