Ovum’s 20th birthday celebrations continues with the return of Pete Moss.

An early staple on the Ovum roster, Pete Moss released 6 EP’s from 1999-2003.  We are very excited to have Pete back in the fold and he has delivered a stellar release in celebration of Ovum’s 20th Anniversary.

Philadelphia based Pete Moss knows a thing or two about house music. Having traveled all over the world in search of the ultimate underground dance floors, and releasing over 150 projects on top labels, he's only just begun leaving his mark on the dance music world. His first 20 years of being a D.J/ Producer have been nothing short of incredible. Releasing originals, remixes, Albums and Mix comps on cutting edge labels such as, Ovum, Dessous, ALola, Definity, Large, Seamless, I records, MN2's, Acryl  and dozens of others, as well as his own underground Recline imprint, he's made his mark in the deep tech world and then some.

Pete has delivered a hand’s in the air summer anthem.  Pete always a master of working a vocal sample has delivered once again.  The infectious hook will stick in your head and drive any dance floor crazy. The track ebbs and flows building to a perfect climax.  

On the B side we have enlisted the legendary Karizma for the remix duties.  K has taken a different twist on the track bring that classic Baltimore funk.  Things get a little grittier with chunkier beats, beefier bass and and a funked up keyboard line.  He has kept elements of the original but givenit that Karizma twist.  What you have are two diverse mixes that should find their way into a diverse mix of DJ’s play lists.


Pete Moss - Tried To Tell You

A DJ/producer, multi-instrumentalist and sound engineer, Alexkid is credited as an early protagonist of 90s Parisian underground culture. Ignited by no less than three critically acclaimed albums on Laurent Garniers F Communications, and cemented by his Rex Club residency of four years, having been invited to the very same club where he had been clubbing for the past 25 years.This, matched with selected releases and remixes on some of the most highly regarded electronic music labels, have solidified Alexkids reputation in every corner of the world. Stripped back, dubby and a sometimes borderline obscure, Alex constructs atmospheric narratives  manoeuvring just as easily through a live set-up as a vinyl session. It is hard to believe it has been 14 years since Alexs debut Ovum release On My Mind.  Alex has returned with a new mature sound that will tear up dance floors this summer!  The Avocado EP (an inside joke between Alex and Josh Wink), is crunchy, rocking, tech funk.  The lead track The Dope is pure funked out techy deepness. A great example that minimal can be maximal with throbbing twitches and tweaks that keep things grooving.For the B, Alex brings us For Josh.  A dedication to our fearless leader Josh Wink, we see Alex taking us on a journey.  The funk is still here, but this track is definitely for the heads and set to soundtrack sun rises throughout the summer. Bravo Alex and welcome back!

2014 has been a vintage year for Poker Flat. Now celebrating its 15th birthday, Steve Bug's label has lost none of its verve, devotion, depth and magic. Cherry-picked from an array of stellar underground releases, each track on this compilation epitomises the dark, minimal, technically accomplished house that has made Poker Flat a byword for quality.

Bug himself contributes two highlights - the brittle, hypnotic 'Pelican Glide' and the skilfully layered 'The Arpeggio', smouldering with latent menace - while Vince Watson is also represented by two outstanding tracks, the pulsing, bassy 'Sonar' and 'Paradise': a showcase in how to combine contrasting elements with its feather-light repetitions married to subaquatic bass. 

Elsewhere Mark Henning dishes up the deep, sinuous funk of 'Mad Half Hour', Carlos Sanchez gives us the reverberating groove of 'Conclution' and Mihai Popoviciu doffs his hat to early house for the deep jack of 'Time'. With Marco Resmann's 'Basic Motion' and two versions of Alex Niggemann's 'Materium' - the deep, unorthodoxly-structured original and Ripperton's expansive big room re-work - it's a collection that perfectly encapsulates a memorable year.

For their debut on Motek, ‘All On Me’, the German duo deliver a groove steeped in ethereal harmonics and ghost-like vocals, courtesy of the multi talented Forrest. First up for remix duty is Eric Volta, responsible for one of the most played tracks of 2013 ‘Love Your Illusion’ which also secured a place in DJ Mag’s ‘Top 10 Tracks of 2013’. Hailing from the sweltering heat of the U.A.E and currently residing on the Eastcoast of Canada. Isotonic has experienced a variety of cultures which is evident throughout his musical selection. The diversity in his track selection and tastes is undeniable. 

A consummate purveyor of emotive electronic music, he combines his influences from throughout the electronic music spectrum to tell digital stories. Stories filled with the interesting, refreshing and often quirky sounds of the underground. He doesn't care where you've been or where you are or even who you are, all he cares about is where your going and where he's going to take you.
