Born from the slow light of the valleys, Winter Sun crafts a sound that’s both vast and fragile — a blend of saturated haze, blown-out melodies, and lo-fi intimacy. Built on a wall of fuzz and reverse reverb, captured to tape, it evokes a raw atmosphere where distortion and nostalgia bleed together.

The band was created in 2019 in Athens, Greece. “It was a matter of life and death, to write songs about the way we felt. Sometimes, when you are in your late 20’s - mid 30’s and life starts to hit you with the rawness of the “real world” you feel so alone, you are about to break. We are just that, oppressed musical souls that never let go of their art, to endure the boss that fired them for no apparent reason, the friends who turned their back on them, the ships that sailed; the realization that whether you are the ship or the shore, does not really make a difference on how depressing a separation can be. We made music, to survive.  And now we have decided to stop keeping it to ourselves.”

Initially three, with George Piaditis on lead guitars, Dean Jola on drums/ vocals and Joseph Powell on lead vocals and guitars, Youth Valley entered the studio to record their first three studio tracks in the form of an EP. George left the band soon after that, Joseph and Dean continued. Thus, Youth Valley EP and the music video for the song ‘Young Sad Lovers’ broke the surface in 2020.

Youth Valley’s style revolves around genres like new wave, post punk and 80’s indie rock like ‘the Cure’ or ‘the Smiths’ dressed in a more contemporary shoegaze guitar-based coat, inspired by bands like ‘DIIV’.
