Just a monotonous out of sync sequence recorded in one take.
I don't know what to do with it, each time I think what can be done with this I conclude that it sucks, but each time I listen to it I find myself pretty mesmerized and like it the way it is.
I've tried to record it again, properly synced, but it doesn't has the same intriguing atmosphere. Also added some moog lines on it, you can listen to that one here:

Five year ago today (ok this is like 8 months late I'm very sorry busy year) we lost my good friend and mentor Phil Western. Phil inspired and taught me a great deal and remains one of my favourite musicians of all time. I made this tribute almost entirely out of analog synths (except the drums and the acid line) and this year they were very problematic which is why this is so late. Its a long story, im sure you don't care but things happen.... I gotta ditch my mixing desk, things done. Anyway, Phil started doing yearly tributes to his lost friend Dwayne Goettel whom I never got to meet but he continued them for more than 20 years as I knew it meant a lot to him and I hope to do the same for his memory. These are very different from my regular style as I generally try to to channel things that Phil would like or do for the theme and principle of these songs. I try to have these come out in early February on the actual anniversary but this year was especially challenging and I had a lot of issues with this one, thanks for the patients I do apologize but I have not forgotten. I am gonna try and have one of these come out once a year until I also perish, close to February if possible but touring schedules etc and how much I have going on in life might push it here and there. Please do yourself and Phils daughter a favour by going to his bandcamp, clicking on any release and select "Buy Digital Discography" for 30$ Its a truly staggering amount of work for that price and remains some of my favourite music of all time. I miss you buddy I think you would have got a kick out of this. Turn this one up for Phil. He was the loudest monitor abuser I've ever encountered haha. Hope you like it buddy we love you

Five Years - Longwalkshortdock (Phil Western Tribute)

Done in 1995 with a Yamaha RY-30 drum machine, the Yamaha SPX900 FX processor and a half dead Akai X7000 sampler, all running through an Akai MG-614 4-track cassette recorder (with 14 lines of throughput) that was also playing recordings of "The Prisoner" for the first half, and a lecture by a Buddhist philosopher for the second half, all mixed live to DAT.  It took a few takes to get the cassette parts to land right.  I'd had a computer but had to sell it so my cat could have a kitty abortion.
