Literally translated as the "First Power," the Adi Shakti mantra honors the feminine force of creation. Raio and sophie sôfrēē offer their beautiful interpretation of this mantra supported by Raio's deeply refined production and instrumentation. It is a journey across dusky landscapes, featuring native flute, kamel'ngoni, handpan, deep percussion, and a touch of african blues guitar. 

The EP features the original track and a pair of incredible remixes by Temple Step Project and Jungle Kitchen. Temple Step takes a lush-and-deep approach for his remix, layering eastern melodies, downtempo breakbeats, and silky subs to create a space for the divine feminine to truly flow and express. Jungle Kitchen offers a more steady tribal vibe, with solid slow house beats, gently growling bass, and masterfully chopped vocals.

This mantra is used to tune us into the frequency of the Divine Mother, and to the primal, protective, generating energy of the universe. It is said that chanting it eliminates fears and increases confidence, personal power, security, and abundance. It is also sung on the 120th day after pregnancy, traditionally honored as the day the soul enters the body.

Raio and Sophie Sofree are delighted to release this track during the 6th month of their pregnancy, in the moon of their marriage. It's also their first release together celebrating their love of mantra and has been co-created out of love.

Unmistakable are the sonic experiments of Spanish alchemist ORBE; with this fresh release on Token. ORBE’s iconically viscous textures and impactful percussion weasel their way into ‘Ascender’ for a deeper release on Kr!z’s label. Thick, brooding atmospheres drive these tracks into stories of pursuit and escape throughout its four tracks.  

A slick, pulsating low end in ‘Flashback’ stands out as a first impression for an imposing EP. Electric leads zip by for maximum psychosis; he’s known for his uncompromising dissonance and drive. A staple of the Spanish scene, ORBE bites down hard on deep and hypnotic techno to resonate through concrete warehouses. This jagged edge to club music continues through ‘W9Y’ - a more drum-forward cut with noisy transitions and breathable synthwork. Sharper stabs occupy this space as opposed to the track’s predecessor and tension is maintained with a lingering pad in the background. A meditative conclusion for the A side, ORBE quickly shifts his attention in the titletrack ‘Ascender’. Emphasizing tone and tune on the kick, the lead comes with confrontation. Rolling through shifting hats, the producer brings boiling tension through minimal arrangement and the weight of his sound design - a skillset only the most seasoned artists can claim. To close things out, ‘Break Nation’ does just that - cutting off the traditional four/four rhythm and instead presenting itself as a bass stepper. With ORBE’s classic unison packed synths, this dweller presents a whole other perspective on ‘Ascender’. A hybrid of influences and yet still destined for the techno dancefloor, this breath of fresh air serves as deep dive into the subconscious for an eyes-closed experience.

Lee Burridge - DISTRIKT - Burning Man 2019

It’s been a while since I played DISTRIKT last. After this years experience I’m somewhat kicking myself. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a crowd at Burning Man so wild and fun. The party was electric. Fire! And, it was only Tuesday. ‘Pacing it’ was obviously out of the question for the five thousand or so that joined me. The Robot Heart bus rolled up and plugged in. Hoj tore the place up before me. Our day party extended into night and most of us left with a smile on our faces and an electricity that carried us forward. Beautiful people swung above the crowd in a birdcage (is that safe I kept asking myself in my head)and hips wiggled and swung while the multi-level dance floor bumped and bounced. Basically, best day party at Burning Man ever ever. So, thank you DISTRIKT for giving me an extended set and an amazing party to play. Let’s do it again next year. It’s a date?
