Jamil Glenn also known as, “Poet Jamil” or "B' Ham's Poet", is an African American poet. He is also a self taught photographer of his company E.J. Glenn Photography. He is also known as, “B’ Ham’s Shoota” amongst creatives from the Hip Hop and Poetry community.

As a poet his desire is to be not just a poet, but an influence, a catalyst for change and a supporter of creatives art. Whether it be through music, poetry or paintings.  He believes that the creative arts contains the power to work as a catapult to improve society.

As one of his favorite Haiku’s reads, “It’s a crazy world. Poets are heroes without capes. The arts saves the day.”

Poet Jamil was born in Birmingham, Alabama on the Westside. His literary work reflects his southern roots and godly core values pass to him from his parents and grandmother. At the time of his upbringing, the neighborhood he lived in, on Lee Avenue, was a fun place to live despite the negativity that surrounded it. He played Basketball and many of the traditional childhood activities that children played.

He was first introduced to Hip Hop & R&B through the Box Music Network, 9.57 Jamz and 107.7 WENN. He also has a love for southern gospel and R&B/Soul hits of the 70s that was introduced to him by his parents and Uncles. He also loves to listen to saxophonists, pianists, violinist and hip hop producers samples with live instruments.

Poet Jamil was influenced to start writing poetry once he discovered that his oldest sister wrote poetry. His mother also wrote poetry as well as plays for the youth in the local church and her favorite subject was English. Her gift of creativity was a transcendental blessing. 

Poet Jamil, became heavily involved in the arts and writing poetry as he got older. He started performing at open mic events and the Historic Bards & Brews hosted by the legendary Brian "Voice" Porter Hawkins and Miss Candice Hardy with the Birmingham Public Library.

Poet Jamil's literary work also highlights the many creatives, artists and leaders both past and present from his city and beyond. He loves uplifting,  encouraging, motivating, promoting and supporting those positive people that are on the similar road that he himself is traveling. 

As a photographer, he has launched a book entitled, “B’ Ham Creatives” in volumes highlighting the many Hip Hop artists, Poets, Painters, Dancers and singers throughout the South starting with his city first.

Joell Regal, also interpreted as Royal Prophet, is poised to reign as one of the most profound songwriters amongst her peers. Originally from Montgomery, Alabama, she was raised in the heart of Birmingham, where her love for music emerged at the early age of 7. She has since discovered a passion for songwriting, using her voice and guitar as a means of transforming her life experiences into “melodic words”. Joell first started performing in September of 2012, and has since been moving full speed ahead, opening up for various artists such as jazz flautist Claudia Hayden, and Los Angeles’ own DeQn Sue. With sounds ranging from folk to jazz, and from ballads to hip-hop, this artist is a one-stop shop for great music and genuine talent. Spectators of her shows have deemed her “A life saver” and one who “…casts spells on the audience,” as she sings. With lyrics that uplift and exude passion, Joell has set her sights on not only changing her community, but ultimately the world, by way of music and poetry, one listener at a time. Joell Regal is well on her way!
