These are the sounds of bats from my apartment window on the 3rd floor of a hotel in Patan, during the night of December ‘22. I had not heard bats this loud before. The bats of Kathmandu are big. Though I had not seen one up close, or even clearly, they could be the size of a cat, maybe slightly larger when they spread their wings. I could only tell I was amongst them by their shrill screeches, and when they flew, by the glimpse of their silhouettes in the night sky cast by moonlight.

What we as able-bodied beings tend to ignore is that no place is ever completely quiet. Sound is a key component that forms the experience of what surrounds us. 

Soundscapes directly plug listeners into the framed environment, transforming recorded moments into the present moment, by using memories and experiences to construct a personal, yet fictional experience. 

It's actually a very sound city is an attempt to reassess our biases connected to the city of Karachi through an alternate way of looking at the city, not through the eyes this time, but ears.
