테크노의 성지로 불리는 저명한 클럽 Bassiani의 레지던트 아티스트 HVL은 2009년 데뷔한 이래 트빌리시 클럽 씬을 중심으로 급격하게 번성하고 있는 테크노 무브먼트의 선두에 서 있다. HVL은 오랜 시간동안 다양한 장르와 스타일을 탐구해왔고, 라이브 공연과 DJ 세트를 통해 만들어진 그의 독보적인 사운드는 그동안 Bassiani Records, Rough House Rosie, Tabernacle Records, Organic Analogue와 같은 언더그라운드 전초기지에서 발매된 솔로 앨범들을 통해 잘 드러나고 있다.⠀

The long-awaited 55th episode of the kkum Podcast returns with a 57-minute ambient DJ set from HVL, based in Tbilisi, Georgia.

First coming to attention as a member of Okinawa Lifestyle duo in 2009, Bassiani/Horoom resident Gigi Jikia a.k.a HVL has become a leading voice of thriving techno movement centered around Tbilisi club scene. Since starting solo career in 2013, HVL was busy exploring more diverse range of genres and styles. His solo releases which have appeared on underground outposts like Bassiani Records, Rough House Rosie, Tabernacle Records and Organic Analogue, have testified to taste that’s also reflected in his Live performances and DJ sets.
The outstanding debut Ostati LP on Organic Analogue Records (2018), intended as a manuscript of the sound of Tbilisi, is a seductive update on the established HVL’s dynamics, centered on outboard house and techno with a noticeably understated mood.
As HVL’s reputation as a solo artist grows, so does his status as a selector and DJ. Jikia has taken his skillfully crafted Live shows and DJ sets to new heights in 2018, hitting up some of the best dancefloors in the world from Berghain and Hï Ibiza to infamous Berlin Atonal.

vrika (@vrika) is the moniker of Spanish producer Fernando Blanco. His music blends hypnotic rhythms, ambient soundscapes, and organic textures, all infused with a tribal essence. Starting with techno as a foundation, his sound freely explores a range of subgenres. Vrika has released music on Doppt Zykler and other respected underground labels. Currently he is a member of the Espacio Perpendicular collective.

Artist’s Statement:
"The concept behind the mix is a fusion of spoken word and soundscapes that evoke the sensation of particle experiments, creating an immersive and exploratory listening experience."

Set recorded on April 26 at Espacio Perpendicular (@espacio-perpendicular), during a deep listening event featuring Australian artist Gi as a guest, along with other regulars of the space such as Camu, Haara, Doozer Frpinkl, and Muted.

Atrice make music like they’re reverse-engineering a dream from memory - glitchy, precise, physical. The Swiss-Colombian duo operate somewhere between academic discipline and raw, system-shaking instinct. Their background in sound art and theory is like the scaffolding they climb to throw punches from unexpected angles. Every release, whether on Ilian Tape, TraTraTrax or their own Miras imprint, feels like a study in tension: synthetic vs organic, chaos vs control, deep listening vs full-body response. Their sound demands submission.

This “Delayed with…” mix is a live recording from H0l0 in NYC during a fabulous Final Passage night that felt like a pressure cooker ready to blow. Atrice went straight for the circuitry, sending pulses through a room thick with fog and anticipation. Over two hours, they bent tempo and space, stitching breakbeat mutations, sub-bass architecture, and brain-bending percussive patterns into something that felt both unstable and surgically tight. It’s not a set you glide through but one that pulls you under, spins you around, and spits you out somewhere unfamiliar but fully alive. If you weren’t there, this is as close as you’ll get to the chaos. For now.

Today, we’re very pleased to welcome Italian-born, Berlin-based Midgar boss, Severja. Jacopo has been blending art and music for the past two decades. As the founder of Midgar label, he oversees both artist curation and visuals, and he's also part of Monument’s design and booking team.

His journey spans Europe, Asia, and Australia, including a stint in Taipei during the pandemic, and he's gained a reputation for hosting some of Berlin’s most talked-about parties.

For Osmura, he delivers a unique set — starting at 180 BPM and gradually slowing down through ambient and trippy dub techno, before ramping back up with d’n’b and murky steppers.

The next Deep Mind Music comes from one of my dearest friends, and greatest inspirations - hems

hems and I have a special connection, we both love to adventure through musical lands strange and beguiling, evocative and unusual, and have spent many hours together digging through obscure backcatalogs or making our own noises experimenting with hems’ many synthesisers in his studio in London 🧡

hems plays music like no one else I know, he has a magic touch and deep sensitivity for representing all shades of human existence. From the sublime to the transcendent, the unsettling to the hilarious, hems’ sets takes listeners to the beyond and then further still.

I first invited hems to make a mix many years ago, so I am very happy to finally welcome an entry from him. This recording is the first 2.5 hours of an all-night 8 hour set hems played at an intimate private gathering in Mexico City in March of this year.

In this recording hems coaxes us to drift inwards, to enter into an unusual landscape, to open up to all the elements of sound, contrasting pre-Hispanic music with vintage synthesizer tracks and much more.  

Listening to hems’ sets over the years has expanded my mind towards new possibilities, his selections and genius touch for programming evoking many deep epiphanies and insights. This mix is brimming with vitality and life, I hope you enjoy this kaleidoscopic voyage into the mystical 🌿 ~

Alongside DJing, hems produces very deep and intricate experimental electronic music I highly recommend checking out, often utilitising spatial audio systems or even playing gongs live, and he also runs the amazing Titrate records with @o-utlier, as well as his own mix series @hardcore-chillout with @EightFoldWay
