Through his work as a DJ, label owner of @crazy-language, and promoter of the @skizze01 nights at OHM Berlin and electro-driven X:ploration parties at @suicide-circus-berlin, Silvio has brought a staggering list of artists to Berlin over the years, including Electronome, DMX Krew, Monolith, Boris Divider, Luxus Varta, Galaxian, Cosmic Force, Heinrich Dressel, Teslasonic and many more.

For this 12th edition of our podcast series, we're happy to present a +2 hour journey through all shapes and sizes of electro by Axiom, recorded live at X:ploration in Berlin on November 17th, 2017.

Over the years Neubau, a Vienna based record label, has become synonymous with forward-thinking electronic music. With this in mind, we are thrilled to welcome one of its founders, Bocksrucker to our ‘Delayed with…’ mix series. Bocksrucker’s unique style of slow-burning leftfield and IDM is something that we have a sweet spot for here at Delayed, and his selection today is quite special. Immaculately executed, this mix is a definition of storytelling. Obscure electronica, eerie vocals, and complex grooves go just perfectly with gloomy weather outside.

Llegamos al número 21 de Isolation Series de la mano de Irazu. Nacido en Madrid, pero viviendo en algún lugar de Europa, su conexión con la música electrónica es solo un símbolo del expresionismo sonoro del autodescubrimiento para tratar de saber quién es.

Irazu define su trabajo como "Un espacio íntimo entre la tensión y la falsa tranquilidad" y nos deja esta reflexión sobre el mix que ha titulado como ‘110’: 

“110 es un número sagrado. La soledad es parte de lo que es.

La energía que representa el número 110 es ilimitada. Tiene una propensión a tratar a las personas de manera intensa.

La profunda resonancia es la vibración de la propia soledad, la base sobre la cual se genera dicha intensidad.

Una persona con el número 110 en su mente tiende a ser consciente de su relación inseparable pero independiente con la soledad.

La soledad es una resonancia de la propia vida, la vibración es la base de la energía representada por el número 110.

Imagina estar en una situación de soledad extrema, con puntos de vista, pensamientos, reflexiones y sentimientos generados por la propia situación. 

Imagina poder reducirlo a un número.

Eso es  el número 110.”

Some Q&A with Ben:

What inspires you in playing music? 
Music is a very intuitive and direct way of non-verbal communication. Through incorporating different moods and styles into my dj selections i try to touch the universal beings out there. People often like to be guided on a musical trip. Without any talking they often seem to accept my invitation to think and feel a little bit out of the box while being in balance with their inner selfs.  

I like to capture my audience through some rather unexpected stylistic turns. It’s always a special mission for me to compile and record mixes like this one for Amsterdam based collective Veldwerk. The goal is always to merge my 2 artist personalities, so that my ambient and my animal side come to life within the dramaturgical development of a mix. Soothing atmospheres slowly make room for more forward pushing material. 

Could you describe the way alternative music culture is part of your life? 
With the age of 15 i started to collect hip hop and funk vinyls and hang out for hours in a former viennese record shop called Black Market. I extended my collection over the past 20 years with different genres, consistent to my changing musical interests. When I’m outside of Austria, i usually take some extra time for digging, especially in cities like Lisbon, Amsterdam, Rome or London.  
Around the year 2000 i started to experiment with Reason and other music producing software, decided that i needed some analogue synths soon after and continued to search for bits and pieces of sonorical wonderland until today. In autumn 2020 my first solo Vinyl Album under my Ambient Animal moniker will be released on my music label sama recordings, which i founded 6 years ago. 

How do you feel about contemporary club/alternative music culture in Vienna?
I know it’s there, but you cannot see, hear and feel it vibrating at the moment due to the very restricted nightlife until 23.00 hours. 

Any expectations from the future within the scene? How do you expect it to evolve? 
I hope smaller venues with an open-minded programming will also survive these immense crisis and will return with a bang after summer. Lifestreams will not save us in our longing for social interaction and shared experiences.

Como no podía ser de otra forma, Nostradamus, el antecesor de Sandro Rey en versión renacentista tenía ya preparadas unas cuantas profecías para este 2021. Mojando perrunillas en su taza de té verde ligeramente nublado con leche vio reflejado absolutamente todo lo que nos había de deparar este año: ya predijo en código abiertamente interpretable cómo los suscriptores del club internacional del rifle tomarían el capitolio yanki, al igual que la nevada asesina que asolaría la meseta central después de subir Maradona a los cielos, y cuando todavía no nos hubiéramos recuperado de toda la movida nos venía con estas:

“Sabed hermanos que el 13 de enero a las 13 horas será hallada la llave que os abrirá las puertas de la mente, donde veréis al gran halcón, que os guiará a través de la senda del Chamann. No es una llave JMA tal cual, sino un viaje etéreo hacia nuestro kilómetro cero interior, y desde allí a su vez nuestro “yo” profundo nos mostrará la esencia del universo, con escala en Calahorra, Ganímedes, visita a la constelación Virgo con merienda y degustación de vinos dulces de la región, tienda de souvenirs y vuelta. Garantizamos que volverá suave y en paz consigo mismo y se conocerá un poco mejor intrínsecamente después de haber implosionado y haberse vuelto a recomponer de sus propios añicos.
