For our 9th mix of The Frontier series we welcome Brazilian born, Barcelona based, Refraction Records commander in chief - Pedro Capelossi.

Over the last decade Pedro has forged a distinctive sound which focuses on inventive use of atmosphere and rhythm, drawing the lines between global dance cultures without adhering to any fixed formula.  

Pedro is best known for his releases on Pablo Bolivar's Seven Villas label. This distinctive label is one which cant be tied down to one particular sound, but tends to float between all things Dub House / Dub Techno / Deep House.

  In 2023 he founded his own musical imprint REFRACTION RECORDS, representing some of the world’s most avant-garde visual artists, designers and musicians. Blurring the boundaries between house, techno and its closely related derivatives.

  For this Frontier mix Pedro has presented a beautifully compiled selection with his signature sound, deep, dubby, atmospheric and emotive throughout. It features a lot of music from Refraction records, with a lot of unreleased forthcoming music. Its a joy to listen to and one we'll be going back to again and again.

‘This mixtape is inspired by the reflection of what place do we hold in the universe, capturing the sense of self and purpose while feeling adrift, a state of curiosity as well as surrender. Being "lost in orbit" also suggests a peaceful surrender to the unknown, floating freely without the need of staying still, embracing the beauty of not having all the answers.’

Lisbon-based electronic music producer, DJ and vocalist ena b. is known for bringing emotional soundscapes to life with an authentic and unique sound fusing elements of electronica, ambient, indie and dark techno with ethereal vocals. After coming up as an indie singer songwriter, she released her first indie-electronica album Ketamine Vacation in April 2024, with the single "Headspace" receiving airplay on radio mixes in Portugal and Spain. She continued her musical evolution with Cycles, her first release on Spanish electronic music label Be Your Own Studio (BYOSL). Cycles is a journey through the seasons as a reflection on inner growth, healing and the different stages of life. Each track exhibits a uniquely curated sound to represent a different season, with influences ranging from electronica and techno to trip hop and fused together by her signature ethereal vocals and harmonies.

Alejandro Romero dived into electronic music at the age of fourteen. He enjoyed listening to a wide spectrum of styles within the genre. His passion for mysterious and deep records increased with the years, going from the common to the most unusual kind of beats. His first attempt to expose his productions was under his own name and he kindly received feedback and likes from labels like Futurepast, Honne Music, Todd Nerdy, WhatNowBecomes and a few more from around the globe. After this success he decided to pursue a career in the Latin American scene with a new moniker called 'Amalgama'. This moniker had the intention to release non-binary music in which he pulled out records on labels like Halcxn, Cavilar, Organic Records, Ruem Trax, Impresión and his own label Overlap Records. The project highlight is a four track vinyl release in the Berlin based label 'System Error'. At the same time Alejandro had the necessity to explore downtempo and ambient realms. He discovered a whole new scene thanks to the attention of webzines like Delayed and Inverted Audio who premiered tracks from his past releases. With this support he launched 'Ópalo', an alias created to expose his taste for experimental downtempo and idm music. His first release under this moniker was an seven track album called 'La Edad Invisible' which was released in Caracteres, a sub label of Overlap Records created for ambient and electronica.

Alejandro future projects include an alias called Quantum, a moniker that compiles his past works that where not considered by records labels. He discovered this music was unique and special. Part of the project is to expose his taste for abstract art made by him with oil on paper. In the present he's still curating the boutique label Overlap Records and his sub label Caracteres.

“With this mix I tried to find the deeper layer of certain tracks and not limit myself too much with different tempo’s ranges. If it fits the vibe and helping the flow, it’s probably the right spot.

A Far Blue concept by Bas Dobbelaer - 'Echoes'

There’s something special about clicking with someone musically, aesthetically, and on a human level. That’s exactly how we feel about our collaboration with Mostra Festival, which is entering its third year. We’re thrilled to introduce some of the talent performing at the 2025 edition and to continue this creative exchange with our friends from Spain.

Mostra 2025 happens April 17-20 at two brand-new locations. With two waves of artists already announced, it’s clear that the high bar set by previous editions has once again been met. Expect the finest in ambient, experimental, avant-garde, and techno. The final wave of artists will be revealed tomorrow, February 12—keep an eye on the festival’s socials for the full announcement. More details on the lineup, new venues, and everything Mostra-related will be coming soon to our page.

Today’s guest mix comes from an artist we’ve been following closely: Mariachiara Troianiello, aka Katatonic Silentio. An Italian producer, DJ, and researcher, she moves between electronic music, performing arts, and sound studies, blending abstraction with club energy. Active as a DJ for over 15 years, her sets oscillate between an analog past and a fast-moving future—sometimes dreamy and introspective, other times razor-sharp and unpredictable.
This January, she was part of ExtraMostra event at Berlin’s OHM, where Mostra & Midgar joined forces. Alongside DjSport, Forest Drive West, Keplrr, and Severja, she delivered a mind-bending set in a packed-out club that couldn’t fit everyone who wanted in.

For her guest mix in our series, Katatonic Silentio explores dub techno in her own meticulous way—controlled, intentional, and always with a sense of movement. The first hour plays with restraint, each track given space to breathe, while subtle shifts build an unspoken tension. Just when you think you’ve settled into the groove, she nudges things into unexpected territory—tightening the pulse, throwing in off-kilter patterns, and steering toward a more kinetic, unpredictable second hour. It’s a mix that keeps you on your toes, unfolding with precision rather than force. A refined trip from an artist who never takes the obvious route.

A few months ago, we found ourselves in our beloved Barn deep in the Catskills, surrounded by trees, friends, and a four-day blur of heavy tunes and strange magic. Our Belgian connection runs deep, built on shared moments, mutual admiration, and a steady stream of talent that never seems to dry up. The latest to surface is Ben Kamal: Brussels-based DJ, promoter, and soon-to-be label boss. In recent years, Ben has been a staple in clubs like C12, Fuse, and Funke, as well as festivals like Paradise City and Horst. He’s carved out a sound that’s both precise and personal, equal parts deep, minimal, and melancholic. As a resident of Lola Haro’s Small Steps series and curator of nights at bis.club, he’s been steadily shaping a mood, a narrative, a space. And with the first release on his new label ov guidance about to drop, featuring a.brehme and signall kommt (aka z@p), that space is about to get even more defined.

Listening to the mix Ben made for us feels like watching dusk fold into night in slow motion. The arc is patient, but the details are razor-sharp: fluttering hats, muted basslines, strange shadows between the kick and the silence. There’s movement, but it’s not linear. It loops, it lingers, it pulls you inward. It’s not about big moments, it’s about micro-decisions that add up to something more enduring. Call it dusk-lake energy. Call it perfect for the other side.

The haze of Paral·lel festival has barely lifted, but we’re rewinding to another moment worth lingering on, February in Granada, at the Moonback club. There, under the warm glow of the Extramostra banner, Mostra linked up with the Klub Collective for a night that balanced local soul with an international touch. The lineup reads like a heads-only dream: Timnah, Antonio Vázquez, Refracted, and a solid core of Klub Collective residents including Fran Acosta, Kaizen, and Utopian. The kind of night that reminded us why the first slot matters more than most people admit. It’s the architectural role: shaping the night’s flow from zero.

Utopian did just that. His set unfolds like a slow exhale, dub-laced ambient that creeps, swells, and gradually transforms into chugging, low-slung techno hypnosis. It’s a patient climb: syncopated, restrained, precise. Not a single cheap move, just deep focus and floor logic, the kind that sets the table without stealing the meal. But make no mistake, this was a statement. A warm-up that didn’t just support the night, but elevated it.

Closing sets come with built-in pressure. But at this year’s Perpendicular Festival, Saturday wrapped up not with spectacle, but with style. Valencia-based DJ and producer Facundo, a standout discovery from the city’s ever-surprising scene, took control of the final stretch with a set that was patient, fluid, and full of character. It moved with intent, keeping the energy alive without ever pushing too hard. The kind of set that made you forget the time, anchored in rhythm and shaped by subtle shifts. A groove that spoke softly but hit deep.

Facundo’s approach to the closing slot was a slow reveal. He opened with broken, syncopated patterns before sliding seamlessly into a tight four-to-the-floor pulse. The tension built with restraint - dark, shadowy techno moments came and went, but the release was never forced. This was a set that traded hype for nuance, showmanship for control. Polyrhythmic elegance in the woods.

There’s a special kind of trust when a festival makes someone a resident. For Les Chaos Ambiants, that someone is Lynne. We’ve partnered with this boutique French festival for the second year, sharing the sounds and stories behind their lakeside weekend in the wooded hills of Sommant. The festival thrives on curation that feels personal, lineups that move like chapters in a book, sound systems tuned to catch every detail, and a setting where the air itself seems to carry the low-end.

Lynne embodies that approach. Originally from Japan and now based in London, she’s built a reputation on mixing low-lit atmospheres with rhythm patterns that shift just as you think you’ve caught them. Her triumphant comeback to our podcast series finds her opening the spectrum: warmer tones, space between the beats, a subtle dub pulse, and even flickers of jazz phrasing. Some DJs treat genre boundaries like walls; others see them as doors. Craig Gonzalez belongs firmly to the latter camp. A staple of Detroit’s underground and a resident DJ at Paxahau’s Third Thursday monthly, he has long been drawn to what happens when techno’s linear propulsion collides with the restless syncopation of drum & bass. That liminal space, the “grey area” between the two, has become one of the most fertile playgrounds in electronic music over the past decade, and Gonzalez shows why. In this mix, recorded as the opening set on the Movement main stage, he handles tempo as a fluid variable, shifting gears without friction and letting polyrhythms function as the connective tissue. It’s the kind of approach that resists the obvious peak and instead builds a topology of groove, a groove that bends but doesn’t break, carrying dancers across time signatures almost without them noticing. 

And while opening a stage that would later host Deepchord, Sama’ Abdulhadi, Octave One, and Jeff Mills could be seen as a daunting warm-up role, Gonzalez treats it less as preparation and more as architecture. Across ninety minutes, he layers patterns with patience, calibrating intensity so that tension rises and releases without tipping into spectacle. The set moves like a conversation that shifts from whispers to declarations, never overstated but always persuasive. It’s a reminder that flow is not just sequencing but narrative logic, and that true mastery lies not in domination of a dancefloor but in shaping the conditions for everything that comes after.

TF #066: Agnosia [Dust Rec] - Spain

Agnosia, a duo formed by Eric and Miguel, producers with a long way behind the decks and productions.  Started on music scene 7 years ago, My Bloody Valentine, Joy Division, Slowdive or Explosions in the sky are some of the inspirations of his personal “vision” of music. Now, with this project, they want to explore the atmospheric side of music.  Always walking between techno, shoegaze or post-rock, they started to produce 5 years ago, trying to show his personal way of music.

The music of Agnosia wants to innovate in the techno fields, adding some new ways with new elements and architectures in the compositions they do. Progressive to the end tracks, forcefulness and deep kicks and basslines, and some guitar distortions and effects to made epic the melodies they build.
Now, they have published his first Album on Dust REC. “Motion and Emotion”, focused in the experimentation with drones, textures and atmospheres but mixed with really forcefulness hypnotic grooves they will drive us crazy.

Born in Spain, Juan Rico is a DJ who has rapidly attained the recognition other artists have taken a long time to gain. He marks his birth as a DJ about 1997, but it wasn’t until his first release in 2002 under the Swedish label Emergence that he became known professionally.  He has shown his quality skills recording for emerging imprints like Pole Recordings, Wolfskuil Records, and his very own Architectural label. 

The set, nearly two hours long was recorded at Bassiani as part of the Wolfskuil Records Night. It's a well-executed mix that focuses especially on the dark, ambient textures, crosscut with hints of hypnotic Dub techno. 
Displaying his impeccable taste in music, Architectural crosses varied musical fields, offers deep and adventurous mix contrasted with dancefloor edge.
