Forest Drive West is the alias of producer Joe Baker from Plaistow, East London. His music has created a stir across the UK underground and beyond, with stripped-down, atmospheric and hypnotic techno tracks contrasting with his heavier, jungle-influenced sounds – all with a connecting thread that explores intricate rhythms and inventive percussion.

Since 2016, Forest Drive West has been building a rapidly growing catalogue of releases, receiving critical acclaim for records on labels such as Livity Sound, Ilian Tape and Rupture London. His ‘Jungle Crack' and ‘Set free’ EPs show a stunning command of sound design and complex rhythms, and they remain some of Rupture London's most sought-after releases.

Cio D'Or - Cumulus 33 / Mixtape Discos Movimiento #28

Mexican-Jamaican dj/producer Andy Martin blends sci-fi techno with Latin Caribbean sounds creating a futuristic edge. His latest album, Antiguos Astronautas, is a musical exploration that merges techno with Native American futurism and has received a positive response from the music community.

This summer he will be performing at renowned European festivals and clubs in Croatia, Spain, France and Germany. 

This set has a deep, dubby, and trippy vibe, with a lot of atmospheric pads mixed with hypnotic rhythms and elements that resemble organic percussion.

With Mostra Festival just over a week away, we’re wrapping up our editorial run with a conversation and a mix from Peter Van Hoesen. His work has always sat slightly outside the frame: techno, ambient, experimental, but never quite typical of any. Instead of chasing momentum, he’s built a practice around attention to sound, to context, and to the possibilities of performance.

At Mostra, he’ll step into a rare DJ role, playing a drum & bass set shaped by years of quietly following the genre’s more experimental edges. In this exchange with Griff and Zach, he reflects on what still draws him to that sound, how his relationship to playing out has shifted, and why intention matters more than ever. The mix he’s shared alongside the interview follows that same line — precise, considered, and wide open. A final entry before we gather next Thursday at Fabra i Coats in Barcelona.

Delayed x Mostra: Peter Van Hoesen

Basel’s Timnah joins our series with a long-anticipated recording from last year’s inaugural pe:rsona, an intimate gathering from the minds at Positive Education. Over the years Timnah has established a reputation for expansive and visionary selections without equal, lending her voice to the beloved Amentia and A Walking Contradiction collectives and leading audiences into captivating unknowns worldwide. Recorded live in the French countryside at the peak of summer, Timnah’s set smolders with delicate tension, lacing outward like tendrils upon shattering glass. Next up in our mix series is Rotterdam-based producer, DJ and On Board Music founder Laura BCR - a vital presence both behind the decks and behind the scenes of contemporary electronic music. A former record store co-owner (Bass Cadet Records), booking agent, and head of the On Board agency and label, Laura’s dedication runs deep.

In this mix, Laura invites us into her more contemplative soundscapes, guiding us through a true evolving trip of shimmering synths and sun-kissed rhythms. It's deliberate and elegant - a lesson in patience and depth. As deep and mysterious, as it is warm and gracious. The perfect companion to stretched-out summer days, glowing nights or for inner voyages and golden hour reflections alike.

Cartoonish, sardonic, yet heartfelt and emotionally raw. Born from Nementïa Astrøphe's earliest years learning Ableton, these tracks have been refined and reimagined, still carrying the unhinged spirit of a curious kid breaking things just to see how they sound.

It’s a twisted jungle gym of naive sound design and arrangement, melodrama, cynical humor, and nostalgic tenderness. From demonic cartoon samples to near-death hallucinations, warped love, dead pet elegies, and the fight against existential boredom, each track retraces a moment of personal myth. Some naive, some painful, others deeply cynical, but all woven with a sense of playful disobedience.

It’s chaotic, melodic, and sometimes just ridiculous. The sound of an inner child throwing paint at the void and laughing when it stares back.🫣
