It's such a privilege to welcome one of my favorite producers to the series, Amsterdam's Human Space Machine, whose brilliant productions are a constant source of inspiration and a presence in so many of my favorite dancefloor memories. About the mix Sybil said:

“For this mix I wanted to capture the icy freshness of January, a month filled with new energy, bright skies, and winter’s introspection. Inspired by a trip in the mountains: cold alpine air, glittering snow, and vast expanses of rock nestled amongst forests of pine trees. I also wanted to bring the sonic feeling of my Deep Mind Music (https://soundcloud.com/deep-mind-music) mixes into a techno format. The first podcast of the year features our dear friend, London-based DJ, and sound artist, Faery. Many of you are likely familiar with her work and may have experienced her enchanting performances at renowned venues like Amsterdam’s De School, Positive Education Festival, or London’s Village Underground. She has crafted an immersive, hour-long winter mix for us, which we are incredibly proud to present 🕯️

Faery’s hypnotic selections blend the psychedelic depths of deep techno, tripped-out psy-influenced sounds, dark vortex-like D’n’B, and experimental ambient. Her sound navigates through intricate sound design and rich, moody textures, both within the club realm and in listening scenarios. One of the notable examples of this is her ambient sound art project Bio-17 released last year, where original biorhythmic samples are woven into experimental ambient to create speculative sonic worlds 🌚✨

Faery’s profound introspective journey takes us through the shadowy realms of crepuscular ambient and downtempo. From the outset, we are lured and caught in its rich honey-like currents, spiralling like dervishes as we dive deep and deeper into the mystical sonic gyre. No words can do the sensation justice, so you’ll just have to try for yourselves. Happy swirling 💫

His productions and performances result in a percussive and hypnotic sound, a combination of tribal rhythms, repetitive leads and atmospheric textures which navigates from dub to tribe, passing through techno and drum’n’bass. Vardae defends a universe where immersion and experience prevail over codes with the idea of offering a journey to each of its appearances.

For this occasion the French alchemist stirs a potent mix - pounding grooves and rolling percussions collide with intricate synths to create a primal energy that transcends genres. Techno and drum & bass merge in a hypnotic dance, taking you on an unforgettable ride that will move your soul and ignite your feet. Debuting his lunar convoy alias in 2015, Souleiman has since carved his own path in the Brussels scene, with a very recent switch to his real first name.

The French artist is blazing an uncompromising trail, with a precise, infallible signature that's at once minimalist, mental and multi-genre, combining the qualities of a high-flying digger with a seasoned mastery of the turntables and a deep sense of narrative.

While co-running the deep techno imprint NORITE (with Foreign Material), he launched his own experimental label called efja, alongside a monthly residency at Kiosk Radio.

This mix was recorded at the Metropolis party back in October 2023, where Souleiman is also a resident DJ, playing the closing slot after Konduku and Sonhan.
