Vlada (@playvlada) has been playing all over the globe since just 18 years of age. Russia-born but Berlin-based for many years now, her sound is defined by a long, winding mixing style and is built on hypnotic basslines that slowly but surely zone you out. 

That very much comes out in this week's mix which initially locks you into a signature meditative pace but then builds with smart gear shifts and technical mixes. There are acid flashes to liven things up, bright synths spiraling around electrifying techno, broken beats to keep things moving then more stark industrial and metallic textures that place you at the heart of a strobe-lit and floor. It is another masterful mix full of must-find tunes from this ever more essential selector.

Berlin-based DJ and producer Edward (Gilles Aiken) is a true master of his craft, known for hypnotic sets that merge groovy, shadowy rhythms with a cosmic edge.

A mainstay of Berlin's 'WHITE' label, Frankfurt's '@die-orakel', and Weimar's iconic @giegling. Edward's latest release sees him join forces with @ricardo-villalobos-official on the revered @perlon-berlin label.

His Friday set during the @Trommelmusic takeover at Gottwood was a  journey through his signature sound, perfectly reflecting the festival’s eclectic vibe.

A redo of what I consider to be my worst track, well incomplete not necessarily “worst". I've spent more time trying to get this track into something decent than any of my others. I originally experimented with my workflow hard on this one, and found what I was doing to be worsening the process. The end result was more of a melody than a full song. What I’ve got now is more complete. I used the original song as the melody for this VIP. It was accidentally a bit Housey at first, and then intentionally House, but it’s got some heavy bass too. I hope you find this one entertaining. It’s tried to be a lot and ended up being too much and not enough. This song has been on a voyage. Electronic Drifter is honestly a perfect title for this song, if not for the journey I’ve been on to get it to this stage. 

I took the original version down. It really isn’t worth listening to, in my opinion. If you really want to listen to it, let me know. I can get you a private link for it. Or, it is still up on my Bandcamp page.

A few weeks ago, we had the pleasure of speaking to one of the German electronic music mainstays - Kosta Athanassiadis, aka XDB. Topics of interest included his long-awaited debut LP 'Inspiron' which was released on beloved Dial Records back in October and the process behind the whole project. Having been recognized for his unique style in the studio, Kosta is also well known as one of the finest music diggers on the scene, so we were incredibly excited when Kosta sent us this mix for our 'Delayed with' series, which he simply labeled - 'Yellow.'
The mix highlights XDB's versatility behind the decks and takes a listener through different corners of electronic music. Enjoy this fantastically groovy music journey by the man of the moment - XDB.
