In December of 2020, one of my favourite imprints released a label compilation. Ryan Griffin has been lovingly curating every single release on A Strangely Isolated Place since 2012. He’s also compiled sublime Reflection mixes which I have happily syndicated on Headphone Commute. Following the first label showcase launched in 2019, Ryan puts together ten tracks, including a few previously unavailable as singles, that make up this 2020 Label Compilation. As a bonus, this release includes an hour-long continuous mix (available as part of a digital-only purchase), which I have arranged with Ryan to share with you today. “I hope the (continuous) year-end mix will become a regular occurrence going forward,” says Griffin about the release. “Many of you will know a big part of my inspiration and passion lies in DJ’ing and classic mix CDs. If the label momentum continues and releases keep coming as planned, then each year I’d like to invite a DJ to select and mix tracks from the label – make an annual tradition out of it.” This compilation is still available for purchase on a CD for only $10, while the digital-only album is up for grabs for only $1!

The latest outing from Huinali Recordings 'Early Horizon' comes from UK-based producer Inhmost. 'Early Horizon' captures three seasons of early morning exposure to the surrounding natural environment. Experiencing every sunrise through this period in time revealed unseen forms in the landscape, new sensations, and a different perspective for each day, creating the ambiance for each piece of music on this album. 
"Footsteps" is a beautiful ambient track with tranquil atmospheres, naturally occurring beauty, and an embrace of stillness. Listening to "Footsteps" feels like walking through the forest after the rain during the early morning. 
A magnificent 'Early Horizon' LP is coming out on April 16 via Huinali Recordings.

Shun Watanabe aka Doltz is well known for his masterful deep techno productions, with work out from Oslated, Circular Limited, and Annulled Music. However, his attention in ambient sound design has always been apparent, drawing us in to swirling and expansive sonic regions as his expertly-crafted rhythms propel us onward.
In Asa, his first strictly ambient work, he goes further, directing the listener’s attention to the shifting, crystalline structures and pulsing loops that ebb and flow through each track, inviting us to stay with each sound, each moment, even as it slowly disappears. 'NUKREATIVE is the music project and brainchild of Jamesen Re & Danny Bonnici, two of Australia's most respected pioneers of the Australian Dance Music scene.

One of Australia's most talented musicians and producers, Danny Bonnici is a true wizard of his craft with a long history in both the studio and on stage, most notably with seminal Australian progressive breaks outfit NuBreed.
Fellow Australian DJ/Producer Jamesen Re best known as the creator and visionary behind the truly iconic SUNNY SIDE UP parties during the late '90s and early 2000s, joined forces in 2017 tapping into their mutual passion for deep, melodic organic and atmospheric House Music.

In 2018 the duo made its mark on the global dance community with their hit release "Equanimity" on Magician On Duty with major support from the likes Double Touch, Kora and Sebastian Leger to name a few. Their follow up releases include labels such as Kindisch, Balance Music, Open Records, The Purr. 2020 has started off in fine style for the duo with releases All Day I Dream, Dusk Till Dawn and TRYBESof.'

Gelka is famous for delivering floating musical journeys, beautifully curated mixtapes, and a debut album "Less Is More" on Nightmares On Wax's Wax On Imprint. With two albums, Gelka has over 20 million streams on Spotify, Apple Music, and Youtube. His mashups and re-edits are amongst the top listened to mixtapes on Mixcloud with more than 62K followers.

In late 2018 Gelka teamed up with Forteba, an electronic synth inspired music producer. He is known for his deep electronic and melodic atmospheric LPs through the legendary German Plastic City and Kompakt. His 400 single and remix releases on Beatport are a complex musical experience.

One Million Eyes was born out of a need to start again. As the duo previously known as @tempelhof (where they worked alongside musicians such as Gigi Masin) Luciano Ermondi and Paolo Mazzacani experienced a pivotal and personal moment in their lives which inspired a reset in their approach and the need for a new musical outlet. It would be easy to try and describe such a transition in terms of wanting a new music style or a new ambition, but simply put, they wanted to get back to enjoying making music again.

As they explored the instruments amassed in their studio and drew upon their upbringing amongst new-wave and rock, any ties to their previous output were forgotten and inhibitions were lost. Brama, their first album as One Million Eyes, was born.

With this newfound freedom of artistic expression clearly evident, Paolo and Luciano created a classic Balearic record, reminiscent of that energy, storied mysticism and longing to return to a place full of good memories.

As the sun disappears below the horizon and the final track closes out the afternoon’s haze, you’re left wondering whether this trip ever happened or was ever quite what it first seemed.
