It's time to take a trip with Cult 48. 

After listening to their incredible debut Catalog 1 (C48/Furthur Electronix) and their follow up 1.1 (C48) we were adamant to get the mysterious Cult 48 included in the mix series. Their production fuses ambient, downtempo and IDM with blissful chords and deep rhythmic drums that will transport you away. This is clearly reflected in the mix that they have provided here.

Take a Trip with Cult 48

Dial Records co-founder Carsten Jost has done it again, his latest being a double offering on the fledgling Avant Propos imprint. Founded by Hypallage Project, the Parisian based record label has for their third release, secured both a remix and original from the Berlin based dj, producer, and label head. Our track for today embodies Jost’s innate ability to do more with less, to create feelings and settings within tracks that contain only the barest of elements.

Credit de Cloture is a minimal moment of bliss, reminiscent of those fond memories of times spent dancing through the night in the mid 2000’s. Plucky synths and melodic pads create an atmosphere full of energy that bubbles along playfully tugging at the listener, bringing them towards an emotional crescendo while distorted voices murmur in and out.

Artificial Dance founder Interstellar Funk releases Live At The Rest Is Noise - Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ. Limited to 150 cassettes, the recording documents Interstellar Funk’s performance at Amsterdam’s Muziekgebouw concert hall in October 2021.


The 45-minute set ebbs and pulses, leaving behind Interstellar Funk’s penchant for hard-wearing club sounds in favour of melody and texture. Some passages mirror elements from the studio album Into The Echo (Dekmantel, 2022), but the live setting allows Interstellar Funk to expand and explore richly detailed sonic spaces that highlight his skills as a composer-performer.

Hibernation is at an end: it’s 2023 and Aniara Recordings are back. Dorisburg delivers the first of three new Aniara 12” releases. A-side ”Voices” continues right where the Swedish label left off with its signature sound in 2019: 9 minutes of evocative minimalism that’s as entrancing as it gets. On the flip side we find ”Skulptur 7”, a haunting, atmospheric dancefloor cut in the inimitable style of Dorisburg.

There is big news from the camp at Greyscale Records. Greyscale #09 is here!! A well-respected veteran of the dub techno scene Upwellings (Vincent Raude), is the star of this show for the label's prominent's chapter of releases. Upwellings is not alone thought! #09 features stunning remixes by household names with Bluetrain (Steve O'Sullivan) and Ohm & Octal Industries makes this is one of the must have releases in 2023. In true Upwellings form, 'Lark Dub' is a brisk and polished track that has a friendly groove that should delight all listener's while Bluetrain turns the remix to a more 4x4 affair naturally injecting it with a house flair. 'Fed on Dub' is a more stark contrast as the alternate featured track. Addictive sequenced sound elements combust like a scientific experiment gone awry. A deep groove that pulses heavy in the sub range. Ohm & Octal Industries up the tempo in their version while still relishing in the signature sound effects. Adding a bit of a melody in spaces brings in a beautiful soundscape and atmosphere to the overall shimmering track. To have all these excellent producers in support on one release is a true treat. Released on white 180 gram vinyl as well as digital. This record will not leave your crate!

Sebastian Mullaert's reinterpretation of Joseph S. Joyce's 2014 dub techno hit, 'Vedanta,' breathes new life into the track with a mesmerizingly minimalistic approach. Stripping away the rhythmic intensity of the original, Mullaert crafts an ambient rendition that delicately balances tranquility and introspection. Through washed-out chords and understated melodies that linger in the background, the remix takes on an ethereal quality, as if floating through a dreamscape.

Following Mullaert's rendition are four other remarkable remixes, each offering a distinct perspective on the original track. El Choop, Van Bonn, Federsen, and Paul 90 bring their unique sonic signatures to the table, further expanding the palette of 'Vedanta.' Additionally, Joseph S. Joyce himself contributes a live revisit, infusing the release with his creative energy. The remix compilation is set to be unveiled on June 28 through Joseph's Default Position record label.
