So excited to welcome BLNDR to the series, a long-awaited delight after observing the French producer develop his magnetic and kaleidoscopic sound over the years. BLNDR's mix is glimmering and atmospheric, reflective of the patient and meticulous nature inhabiting his work as both BLNDR and his more-recent Traevor alias. Voiced in a heartfelt tone and assembled with a poet's touch, this set is a soft yet spry landing to an intense season, breathing a new air, fluttering to a new rhythm, earnest to the very end. We proudly present to you the 50th Far Blue concept which is created by Tokyo based ambient DJ Chris SSG. We’ve been a fan of Chris’ mixes for quite a while now, so we are more than happy that he took the time to curate this special episode.

‘I sat in the park and watched the sun set. The blues and oranges blend and blur together, the day gently shifts into night. With that experience in mind, I return home and make this mix. The music captures that transitional zone: beats are present, not for dancing but dreaming. The transitions are gentle and simple, allowing for a sense of space and openness. Old and new, the records are joined together by feelings and memories, the past circling back on the present.’

Good friend and constant source of inspiration Alex Albrecht, joined me to celebrate my 300th episode of Passing Notes.

Few artists channel a consistent stream of creativity like Alex Albrecht. With over a decade of music-making under his belt, Alex has cultivated a distinct and frankly iconic musical identity. Effortlessly shapeshifting between experimental jazz, ambient, atmospheric house, and deep techno, Alex’s compositions are marked by an environmental undertone that imbues them with a uniquely “Alex Albrecht” earthly sense of place. Simultaneously anchoring and weightless, the common thread between it all is Alex’s ability to leave listeners safely ensconced in a swell of emotional resonance.

Improvisation and exploration are at the heart of Albrecht’s craft. His constantly evolving and captivating live performances have taken him to far corners of the globe, with appearances at iconic venues like Bassiani in Georgia, Monument in Norway, and Vent in Tokyo just to name a few. Each journey fuels his exploratory nature, offering new opportunities to immerse himself in the world around him. Field recordings serve as an auditory journal—postcards sent home to evoke memories of space and place that form the ever-important foundation of his creative process. These recordings provide a naturalistic canvas upon which Alex layers syncopated rhythmic subtleties and soaring, colorful synthetic brushstrokes.

With a rich discography amassing on celebrated labels such as A Strangely Isolated Place, Constellation Tatsu, Apollo, Scissor & Thread, and his own Analogue Attic Recordings—also celebrating its 10th anniversary this year—Albrecht’s work reflects a steadfast commitment to artistic authenticity and a depth of accrued knowledge now expressed through a craft so refined that oft feels effortless.

It was an honour to have Alex performing LIVE in the studio to celebrate this milestone together and share in his music that will continue to inspire us all.

Techno Space Bar is a cozy party that’s brought in some familiar names from our orbit, like Orion, Alex Albrecht, and Noc:turne, alongside a solid lineup of local talent. They’ve got some interesting plans in the works, so if you’re into deep, thoughtful electronic music, give them a follow.

For this mix, DJ Church delivers a warm and atmospheric trip through a deep and melodic house. It’s the kind of set that works best in the daytime - relaxed, immersive, and just what you need when the world feels a little too heavy. An hour to unplug, breathe, and float. And as one of the tracks in the mix reminds us—do easy.

“I recorded this mix alone at home, drinking some nice red wine, cradled by melancholy and hope. Thinking about all the beautiful memories of special people I’ve met at parties around the world—smiling, dancing, sharing everything, the highs and the lows.
These moments, even the challenging ones, make life worth it. Thanks to all my friends who share their lives with me on the dancefloor.
