In either scenario there is a wealth of music awaiting your minds and ears to make your Sundays better. As with Delayed and our love of curation, we’d like to extend our programming and expertise into another realm, dedicated to that of downtempo, electronica, ambient and everything in between. The caveat? Only quality not quantity, and don’t hold us to genre.

Today we have a special session by the experienced Italian artist Filippo Scorcucchi, part of the LF58 duo with Neel, he sent us a hybrid mix where he is playing with turntables and his well-known modular synth. An abstract experience immersed in the ambient and experimental sound for the next 50 minutes, it has no waste!

Opening for Recondite @ Public Works, SF

Jo Johnson has been releasing music and organising events since the early 90s. She is a regular performer at Freerotation festival in the UK, and organises electronic music events with Bleep43 in London. Her debut solo album, Weaving, was released on Further Records in 2014 and has been described as a modern classic.  Her latest solo release, The Wave Ahead, came out earlier this year on Brooklyn-based label, Mysteries of the Deep. Jo also collaborates with pianist and composer, Hilary Robinson, and they have a live album, Session One, on 9128.live (a sub-label of A Strangely Isolated Place).

“It's been a pleasure to spend time listening to someone else’s music rather than my own! I've been writing and playing out much more this year, which has been amazing, but it's not left as much time for listening, so it's been refreshing and inspiring to delve into some of the great music that's been coming out recently. Today we share with you Module One's perception of Far Blue. Besides putting together very thoughtful mixes, Module One is a stellar producer as well. To build his own very personal story, he decided to go all original on his one hour long Far Blue concept titled 'Lost in Translation'. 

"The title of the mix is inspired by the linguistic phenomenon of losing or changing the context due to differences in languages and cultures, but for me that metaphorically relates to music where every listener has an individual perception and is able to hear the things the others cannot."

Sundays are for... [Apr/25]

This mix has been brewing in my head for a while now.. An inkling of it first started to pop up back in October while we were at our biannual Delayed gathering in the mountains of upstate New York. I played a set with a dear friend on the Sunday morning there - cozy & hopeful music from various corners of our collections that don't get played very often but are set aside for special moments. My favorite kind of music.. It was one of the most memorable sets I've played & brought up a ton of emotions & memories from past experiences hearing some of those songs. Memories from my wedding, memories of my brother, memories from times living in Los Angeles when Sundays were all about lounging around all day in the sunshine after nights of dancing into the early hours of the morning. We laughed, cried, danced, ate lunch, all over the course of the morning into the early afternoon. It laid the foundation for how I wanted to approach this mix for Zach.

Sundays for me have always been a day of healing - mentally, physically, emotionally. It's a day to seek inner peace & a day to be reminded of everything you have to be grateful for in spite of anything else. I recorded this mix on a rainy Saturday earlier this month, channeling all of those memories & feelings, with my dog by my feet while my wife & daughter wandered about the house, making beaded bracelets & doing various arts & crafts.

From me to you, a warm hug & the promise of spring.

My Sunday morning involves strong black coffee on an empty stomach, followed by one massive pancake to share. Both energizing and grounding. Ideally I try to set a different tone than other mornings; less of a grind, more human.
I tried to let this mix convey this feeling, and hopefully use it myself to be in the morning and not work so hard; The music is more emotionally layered and pulls me a bit more into different directions than what I'd listen to when starting work.

A return to New York after quality time spent with the family. These trips are a great mental break from the hustle and bustle of city life. Time seems to slow, ever so slightly as evenings spent behind the grill, watching the sun set through tendrils of smoke and the murmur of dinner time conversations truly make for some of my favorite moments.

- sat on the couch, watching horror movies on mute, drinking coffee, making tunes
- drove to Footscray to help my friend Reis record his band
- heated up leftover lebanese food and made a sort of shakshuka with it
- hung out with my Mum, looking at family photos
- nursed a hangover, drove to northcote plaza and bought 6 donut holes

The heat waves have subsided to a degree, breezes sweep the green trees throughout Brooklyn. After a break, I’m happy to be out walking again, street by street, watching life unfold in the warm New York summer.
