Though SoundCloud streams all audio at 128kbps MP3, the source files are available for download, so that the sound quality of the WAV and MP3 examples can be evaluated.

The MP3 artifacts example is simply the MP3 file with all the center/mid information removed, so you can more clearly hear the unpleasant side effects of the MP3 encoder that are often masked.

I recently downloaded Iris by Izotope and thought I'd run one of my uglier sounding samples through it and see what I could come up with.

There's the sample, a recording of running a Commodore 64 game tape through an audio tape deck, then the synth built with the sample, then the two together.
