I had to re-edit it, so I went back to the original file, remastering it from the ground up, as the mixing on the last version was a bit shoddy in places, and re-worked the whole thing. I think this should fit somewhat better, without any disjointed crossfades.

I'm also releasing another version of Time Corridor (Extended) with this added epilogue! This features a shortened version of Tegan's goodbye at the end of Resurrection of the Daleks, with revitalised music! Think of it as what Murray Gold would probs do if he were George Lucas.

To celebrate, I decided to look back and redo one of my earliest whomixes, the 7th Doctor theme (with homemade opening sequence as well!) to say "look how far I've come" and I think I've done alright. Enjoy!

Doctor Who - Remembrance Of The Re - Imagining

I was aiming for a more dreamy sounding version of the "diamond logo" opening theme, to play up on the more epherial and psychidelic elements at play in the titles sequence.

Once again, this was made entirely in GarageBand, minus samples from the original Derbyshire theme (provided to me by Simon Bowser, or "Radiophonic Workshop Fan" on here.)

I have to give special thanks to my roommate, who suggested having the arpeggiated spangles transition into the middle-eight. That's what really makes the piece work, in my opinion.

“Derbyshire 1987” is a series of recreations of the themes Delia Derbyshire made for DOCTOR WHO in 1963, 1967, and 1970, created using the Prophet V synthesizer. The Prophet V was famously used by Keff McCulloch to create the 1987 theme tune that appeared in all of Sylvester McCoy’s episodes as the Doctor. The goal of this experiment was to see if the Prophet V could create an atmospheric, Radiophonic sound, as opposed to the more “synthy” style that Keff went for.

I drew a lot of inspiration from Marinedalek’s “Derbyshire 1980,” a similar project that used the CS-80v, a digital recreation of one of the synths used by Peter Howell to create his version.

Track list:

1. ’63 Full Theme - This arrangement follows the August ’63 master tape version, which was the first-ever version of the theme produced by Derbyshire.
2. ’67 Full Theme - The otherworldly “spangles” and new delay effects to the bassline and melody have been incorporated.
3. ’63 Opening - This version features a number of “imperfections” added at producer Verity Lambert’s request, in order to make the piece sound more organic. I’ve tried to standardize the haphazard fade-outs from the TV show into a more streamlined version.
4. ’67 Opening - Almost exactly the same as the previous track, except the ’67 effects have been added in.
5. ’70 Opening - Retaining the added elements from the ’67 version, this track also features a lowered pitch, a shortened opening bassline, and a “repeat-to-fade” that further streamlines the transition from the opening titles to the episode proper.
6. ’70 Regular Closing - Featuring the famous “sting” sound effect that has closed every episode of DOCTOR WHO since “The Ambassadors of Death,” this closing arrangement is a stripped-down version of the ’67 full theme.
7. ’70 Extended Closing - This longer arrangement of the closing titles, featuring the middle-eight and an extra repetition of the opening melody, only appeared on a few Tom Baker serials, such as “The Invasion of Time,” when the end credits had to run longer and incorporate more names than usual.
