Helping me Draw the Line this week with her mix in the second hour it’s Deborah Grattan aka Cinquedea who’s a hard techno DJ  / Producer from Dublin in Ireland. She was a singer, songwriter, and performer with her band Eat Me Drink Me when she decided to follow her passion for techno by becoming a DJ and music producer in 2020. Since January 2021 she’s had her own radio show on Dublin’s Power FM (every Saturday, 11pm UK). She’s played in Tengu, Annaghtek and Interruption, and has an upcoming event with Collide (10th June in Birmingham).

She’s DJ’d at SXSW, Green Man, and many other festivals and has residencies for Soundcrash and Cafe Artum. Her sets are a journey through jazz, broken beat, leftfield house and soulful sounds.

She learned to DJ on Technics 1210s when she was in her teens then left the music business to concentrate on her career and to bring up her son. In 2018 she returned to the turntables after 20 years. She now regularly DJs in the most popular bars & clubs in Frankfurt am Main. Also, for the last 12 months she’s had her own show on Ibiza Underground Radio.

Helping me Draw The Line this week it’s FSJ who are from Phnom Penh in Cambodia. The set is called "On Beauty." It’s a live set created specifically for the Draw the Line. Deeply moved by the show’s support for female musicians, their live set draws inspiration from Kahlil Gibran's poetry collection "The Prophet," using the chapter ‘On Beauty’ as a vocal sample to convey the message that everyone is whole and perfect. The project features a total of 10 original tracks, collaboratively produced by Fin, San, and Joe (collectively known as FSJ).and it’s dedicated to all women.

Her entry in the recent Drumcode Mha Iri remix contest was runner up and her tracks have been played by artists like Kevin de Vries, Juliet Fox, Teenage Mutants and many others. Her DJ sets are a combination of old school sounds and modern elements creating dynamic driving techno sets. Helping me Draw The Line this week it’s Luisa Houseworks aka DJ Luisa, a DJ, promoter and music producer based in El Paso in Texas. Originally from the state of Jalisco in Mexico, her career developed from DJ-ing at underground house parties. Her style transcends genres as her sound follows an inner spirit and groove that can surprise with switches from house to techno and from techno to jungle. In addition to her musical career, Luisa also manages the monthly podcast for the female:pressure collective.

She has also begun to perform burlesque and hosts an all-francophone radio show featuring solely women artists.

Her sets are raw, immersive, and uncompromising merging hypnotic, tribal and deep techno into unforgettable sonic narratives, building deep, long form journeys from the opening kick to the last drop. From Wrocław’s concrete halls to Cairo rooftops and Berlin basements she tells stories meant to be felt, not filtered.

Jacki-E & P-Mac are influenced by techno, deep house, jungle, dnb and the ethos of the acid house raves and festivals of the early 90's.  If you listen carefully you can hear the underlying stories which have influenced them in their preference for the darker edge of electronic dance music.
Jacki-E & P-Mac write and publish their own original tracks and re-mixes, play DJ sets in clubs, at private parties and for radio shows and podcasts .
