Helping me Draw the Line this week with her mix in the second hour it’s Deborah Grattan aka Cinquedea who’s a hard techno DJ  / Producer from Dublin in Ireland. She was a singer, songwriter, and performer with her band Eat Me Drink Me when she decided to follow her passion for techno by becoming a DJ and music producer in 2020. Since January 2021 she’s had her own radio show on Dublin’s Power FM (every Saturday, 11pm UK). She’s played in Tengu, Annaghtek and Interruption, and has an upcoming event with Collide (10th June in Birmingham).

She’s DJ’d at SXSW, Green Man, and many other festivals and has residencies for Soundcrash and Cafe Artum. Her sets are a journey through jazz, broken beat, leftfield house and soulful sounds.

She learned to DJ on Technics 1210s when she was in her teens then left the music business to concentrate on her career and to bring up her son. In 2018 she returned to the turntables after 20 years. She now regularly DJs in the most popular bars & clubs in Frankfurt am Main. Also, for the last 12 months she’s had her own show on Ibiza Underground Radio.

The recording of my set at Paral·lel Festival 2022 🌲⛰🧡 @parallelfestival

I was on 12.30-14.30 on Saturday afternoon. When I started playing, grey hazy clouds were still drifting across the panorama from Friday night’s storm, and by the end of my set, the sun was shining down on all of us.

This set meant a great deal to me, and being gifted the task of drifting from ambient expansion into trippy rhythms, coaxing everyone up off the floor and into movement, was such a dream.

Now based in Brooklyn, Sure Thing started as a series of parties in San Francisco before growing outward, later blossoming into a renowned mix series and record label. 

As a DJ, Aaron’s level of empathy and attention-to-detail are unmistakeable, allowing him to deeply connect with the dance floor no matter the context - layering, building and driving emotions ever onwards.

Deeply moved by the show’s support for female musicians, their live set draws inspiration from Kahlil Gibran's poetry collection "The Prophet," using the chapter ‘On Beauty’ as a vocal sample to convey the message that everyone is whole and perfect. The project features a total of 10 original tracks, collaboratively produced by Fin, San, and Joe (collectively known as FSJ).and it’s dedicated to all women.

Her DJ sets are a combination of old school sounds and modern elements creating dynamic driving techno sets. Helping me Draw The Line this week it’s Caroline Valença aka Amethysta a DJ, Producer and multi-artist from Brasília with a B2B set with her husband, Benicci. Helping me Draw The Line this week it’s Lodzikovsky, born in Warsaw and raised in Wrocław. She's the first Polish techno artist to headline in Cairo and Hurghada in Egypt. Her sets are raw, immersive, and uncompromising merging hypnotic, tribal and deep techno into unforgettable sonic narratives, building deep, long form journeys from the opening kick to the last drop. From Wrocław’s concrete halls to Cairo rooftops and Berlin basements she tells stories meant to be felt, not filtered.

Together with her partner P-Mac, she has two weekly radio shows, A Darker Wave, which streams every Saturday on NLive Radio, Circl8 Radio & Echo Radio, playing the best in underground techno, tech house and deep house; & Draw The Line Radio Show every Friday on Echo Radio and every Saturday on Circl8 Radio featuring the best music by female & gender minority DJs and Producers.
Jacki-E & P-Mac are influenced by techno, deep house, jungle, dnb and the ethos of the acid house raves and festivals of the early 90's.  If you listen carefully you can hear the underlying stories which have influenced them in their preference for the darker edge of electronic dance music.
Jacki-E & P-Mac write and publish their own original tracks and re-mixes, play DJ sets in clubs, at private parties and for radio shows and podcasts .
