Ran and hosted by Brighton singer-songwriter Jacko Hooper, Folklore Sessions is all about highlighting the very best music from across the country in an intimate environment for music lovers and artists alike.
Not to be restricted by genre, Folklore has hosted bands and solo artists from rock, electronica, folk, soul and more. What ties them together is the calibre of song writing and the stripped back performances to highlight the core of their songs and the honesty within the lyrics they scribe. 
Once a month a showcase of the most recent finds is had at the home of Folklore, The White Rabbit in Brighton.

Having hosted nearly 100 different acts at the monthly sessions, as well as stages at Together The People Festival and Brighton Fringe respectively, the time has come to start releasing records of some of Folklore’s discoveries since launch back in September 2014.

Limited to just 250 copies worldwide, each record comes with reversible gatefold sleeves, inserts and one inch badges designed by the artists involved. The series of Folklore vinyl’s will culminate in late 2018 with a series comprehensive compilation, bringing together all five volumes into one deluxe package.

George Ogilvie – Out of Harm’s Way
We see George Ogilvie return with a song for Folklore that shows the depth to his songwriting abilities. With more emphasis on his vocals than ever before you see George take charge of proceedings with his signature smooth vocal from the start, building into an emotionally charged crescendo that hits you in all the right places. A brilliant and enchanting track that that leaves you well and truly under his spell.

Oktoba – Chance
Nobody can get a heartfelt message across quite like Chris Athorne, AKA Oktoba. Moving away from some of his more Americana influences to create something brooding and yet elegant. The combination of Oktoba’s lyrics and producer Ben Townsend’s production is particularly pleasing and gives us a different look into the creative workings of one of the UKs finest story tellers.

Bess Atwell - Pearl
Bess brings things back to more of her roots for this folk driven track complete with harmonica. There’s no need for elaborative production or an army of musicians, the joy of Bess’ work is how she translates emotions and melody so effortlessly, another timeless song from one of the countries most exciting up and coming songwriters.

Jacko Hooper – All I Deserve, Is Not You
The man behind Folklore brings a song of self-doubt, worry and internal debates. Not one to shy away from expressing honest, powerful and at times painful emotions through his music, Jacko turns this song from an intimate and lonely ballad into something far more powerful and substantial with the echoes of trumpets and synthesized melody lines intertwining with his vocals to end Folklore volume 1 in a dramatic and unforgiving manner

Jacko Hooper - Sidelines (Live Studio Session)

The Long Road is Track 3 from Jacko Hooper's EP 'Together We're Lost' which is out November 23rd.
Following a year of writing and taking a step back from performing live, Jacko
returns with an EP written and recorded from his bedroom with the help from life long friend and Producer, Josh Trinnaman (Whose mixing credits include Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, RY X and his own Brighton-based IDM/Jazz/Electronic outfit Luo). With a limited edition run of CDRs being made available via Jacko’s boutique record label and promotions company Folklore Sessions, there will, as always with Hooper’s releases’ be an
opportunity to not just stream the record digitally but get something much more personal which his devoted army of followers will enjoy once again.
Recorded off the back of Folklore Vol.1, a 4-track EP released with fellow musicians and friends Bess Atwell, George Ogilvie & Oktoba, Together We’re Lost tells a story of
personifying emotions and situations that Jacko has found himself in, especially over the last year. A constant inner dialogue between his fears, anxieties and ‘logical thinking’ soon turned into words and melody that found themselves needing to be expressed, sticking with what Hooper is most well known for - true emotion and honesty. The record covers two primary topics, loneliness and frustration. As ever Jacko’s own brutally honest experiences form the forward drive throughout, however the true purpose of his music isn’t ever his own story but the new ones created from it. “I don’t feel that the original story of why I wrote the song is necessarily the most important thing, I think the fact people can listen to it and all of a sudden it becomes a different story with a totally different meaning is the best thing of all, to be able to connect to it people need it to be their story, not mine”.
With Together We’re Lost showcasing true emotion and honesty, Jacko Hopes that more stories are created for his very own.
