About Jacob Korn:
Jacob Korn from Dresden, Germany was born in the early 80's. His sound is influenced by Kraftwerk and the sound of 90's techno and house music. He has been producing electronic music of different flavours for what seems like an eternity. Early on in his career he combined Hip Hop and Techno with elements of Jazz and weird electronics under the Granufunk moniker. Once he turned his attention to more classical but versatile house and techno stylings he chose to go by his given name. Jacob Korn continually experiments in new recordingstyles and production techniques, while developing his own music tools for cross mediaarts and interactive performances.

Throughout the hour we get a steady and measured balanced of ambience, house, techno, gherkin jack, and a couple of ebm influenced cuts perfectly stitched together, making the ride a varied and engaging one. One year on since his last full length venture 5 on Mule Musiq, house music aristocracy Fred P announces the subsequent 6 LP to mark the second part of a soon-to-be trilogy under his FP-Oner alias. These eleven tracks demonstrate the many cosmic qualities of Fred's deeper shade of soul, orchestrated for club soundsystems as well as home speakers. A notable follow-up in the NYC native's prolific 20+ year career.

An LP highlight comes in the form of "Reap Love", built up of some of dance music's favourite sounds. Percussive energy is rife from the off, with dreamy panning chords from the synthesiser adding to the nostalgic utopia of clubland's heyday. The melodies' lazy, seducing progression taps into a more spiritual, meditative feel. A true encapsulation of a dance music era that comes directly from one of its torchbearers.

t’s always an event when Jacob Korn fires uphis custom-madestudio set upto createanother excitingHouse record. In fact, EP3 is a tasteful four-tracker that more than lives up on its two predecessors.

“The Happening” buildson funky drum patterns before risingintoa break that feels like taking a bucket full of water to thechest. Another burning dance floor affair is “Holiday” with its percussion-driven beats and heavy staccato style synths, in all its Caribbean glory.

“Goodbye” is driven by an irresistible sample and string combination while “Thru The Eyes” is riding on a cheerful drum foundation and killer sample. Dancefloor heaven.

As she did for EP1 and EP2 the new record is again illustrated by Anna Jaszpataki from Dresden.

Kevin Over further cements his status as mobilee’s most exciting fresh talent with a blistering collection of unheard material, deftly showcasing the work of a young artist rapidly reaching critical mass. 
 
You don’t come to find yourself at the helm of one of the most successful underground house and techno imprints without a keen eye for fresh talent, that which has the potential to be nurtured, moulded and pushed to the next level. Anja Schneider has worked hard to hone that skill over the years, fine-tuning her instinctive, risk-taking persona; as a result, she just knows when someone is worth investing in. With that said, she new has her new protégé Kevin Over locked firmly in her sights – and with good reason.
 
But even so, for Over to find himself behind the wheel of one of mobilee’s annual long-form releases, despite him barely being over a quarter of a century old (not to mention having only met its founder in person less than a year ago), is quite something. But then again, Anja Schneider isn’t your usual A&R, and Kevin Over isn’t your usual ‘talent’ - as if his recent stellar run of EPs on Truesoul, Nofitstate, Avotre and of course mobilee in the last year alone, didn’t tell you already.
 
Part compilation, and part album, Over was keen to emphasize how this was his first musically extensive project which followed a defined musical structure, and was consistent in its vibe and mood from beginning to end; “I felt like I needed more of a defined direction at this point in my career, as many of my EPs had traversed a wide variety of styles. The whole process took around three months, drawing from my early influences in garage and Chicago house as well as older funk stuff. I definitely got lost down the Youtube rabbit hole whilst looking for things to sample! I’m also so proud of having some of my favorite artists such as Marquis Hawkes, Jacob Korn and Soulphiction on board for remixes as well.”

As a result, the package displays a remarkably well-rounded cohesion, despite many of the tracks being wildly disparate in a musical sense. They all contain that trademark Over sound that’s hard to put your finger on, be it the piston-driven, jacking drums, the use of dirt and distortion as a textural tool, or the understated yet catchy melodies. The gloriously gravelly deep house of ‘Vember’ contrasts beautifully against the woozy, euphoria of ‘Look At Me Sartre’. There’s everything from disco-inflected bangers (‘Pfeffi Care’) to bittersweet, nostalgic house making an appearance (‘Hillside Av.’), rounding off with his haunting take on Rodriguez Jr.’s 2012 anthem ‘Satellite’
 
As is tradition with the ‘Back to Back’ series, the full package will also be accompanied by a ‘best of’ mobilee tracks from the previous year, with tracks from Audiofly, Ray Opkara, Rodriguez Jr. amongst many others, and of course Anja Schneider herself. Kevin’s series of original tracks and remixes will be available to buy as a 2 x 12” gatefold package. A tour is also scheduled to follow.

...Jacob Korn also turns in a noteworthy remix, his broad, enveloping house chords adding a certain warmth absent from the other mixes, though that said he manages to keep things pretty tough as well. Neville Watson’s dub, although perfectly competent as a production fails to hit the spot as it lacks the grit and unforced sense of authenticity that is more easily conveyed on the other tracks. Despite this superfluous moment, Gerd &amp; Elbee’sH.O.U.S.E. not only dodges the cliché bullet, but earns its authentic credentials with ease.

For Denmark’s Tomas Barfod, rhythms manifest themselves in a variety of forms. A natural drummer comfortable behind the set, Barfod is unafraid to switch over to the studio and produce tracks fitting for the club or headphones.

As drummer for Whomadewho, Barfod has toured the world (with LCD Soundsystem, Hot Chip and others), sharing their distinct, deviant dance rock sound, and helping to create two full-length releases for Gomma and a mini-LP on Kompakt.

As a solo artist, Barfod has operated under multiple guises, unleashing house hits as TomBoy on Gomma, collaborating with Kasper Bjørke, composing with the illusive Jatoma trio on Kompakt, and assembling remixes of Gorillaz, Franz Ferdinand, Bloc Party and many others.

The ‘Broken Glass’ EP is Barfod’s first venture with Friends of Friends, a 12″ that features two new cuts along with remixes from Permanent Vacations’ Jacob Korn and FoF’s very own Shlohmo.
