Recorded live Oct 3, 2021 in Berlin on Tag der Clubkultur, a day inaugurated last year by the city's Club Commission, in the height of the pandemic, as a way to draw attention to the importance of nightlife artists & spaces, and a way to disperse some much needed grant money.   We so appreciate living in a city that values our importance, creating initiatives like this.  

October 3rd is Germany's reunification day.  The reunification of east and west brought together a generation that was able to start healing themselves to the fresh soundtrack of electronic music.  We are proud to call this place our home, as it is still a magnetic place that draws many from all over the globe, pilgrims of the mother beat.

Su experiencia multitudinaria con la producción cultural, (ha sido anfitrión de una radio comunitaria, manager de restaurantes y de una galería de arte contemporáneo, vendedor de discos en una legendaria disquería, director de sesiones de meditación guiada y organizador de fiestas disco en un teatro porno gay), demuestran su atención al detalle para lo experiencial y lo efímero, demostrando que la creatividad está en todas partes. For the 39th entry in the Fun Fun Mix series, we present dj Jacob Meehan, delivering this amazing mix recorded live at Zenner Club in Berlin on New Year's Day 2023. After relocating from Chicago to Berlin in 2016, Jacob has instigated some of his adopted city's most beloved queer events, particularly Buttons @radio-buttons and WHOLE Festival. His multitudinous background with cultural production - hosting community radio, managing neighborhood restaurants, operating a contemporary art gallery, selling records at a legendary record shop, leading guided meditation sessions, & throwing disco parties in a gay porn theater - inform his attention to detail for the experiential & ephemeral, proving that creativity is everywhere. The downtime of the pandemic afforded Meehan the opportunity to dive further into music production; expect new releases from him in 2023!

Jacob Meehan's set at Lecken was the talk of the Play Pit. The WHOLE Ambient stage curator and Kwia mainstay shared a more intimate side of his collection with us. Dubbed out electronica merge with smooth throwbacks while ethereal jazz gets sprinkled with 80s synths, making us nostalgic for the age of our lost innocence. We swayed and swooned down memory lane, counting our blessings beneath the inverted crosses of the Play Pit sky, only to emerge again in the warm embrace of trusted friends or strangers, all within the breadth of @jacob-meehan's expertly concocted seance. This was maybe my fourth time ever playing techno, and it felt incredible to be given the trust to close the main room at Zero Chill, NYC's hottest rave. After nearly 20 years of DJing—mostly known for house, sometimes ambient—it was a thrill to stretch into a harder, faster prime-time slot for a massive, raging warehouse crowd. Pride 2025 called for a disco-flavored last hour to honor our origins and ancestors.

I’ve never had so many people DM me after a set, and it’s got me inspired to keep exploring this direction in the techno landscape.

Special thanks to my dears Dirty Daddy Don and Physical Therapy for lacing me with some tracks for the night. It takes a village.
