Leeds based label Outcross records has been consistently building on its reputation as a reliable outlet for floor filling house music for a while now, and here returns with another red-hot package. This one comes from Funky Fat with remixes from label boss Miguel Campbell, MAM and Matt Hughes.

Gui Santoro, Thiago Guimarães, Rafael Cury and Manu d’Alcântara are the names behind the Brazilian band FUNKY FAT that is taking the house scene by storm. Their sound has a strong crossover appeal that’s full of deep energy and funky grooves and has so far found support with tastemakers like Solomun, Jamie Jones and Lee Foss. To date the band have released on Hot Creations and got airplay all over the world as a result.

First single ‘Ride in the City’ is a gorgeous, sumptuous bit of house music with warm, creamy beats and synths and perfect neo-soul vocals. There’s a live feel to the percussion and twinkling keys that really strike at your heart. So does the bassline, a round, bulbous affair that is supple as it is sexual: this one is sure to be one of the hits of the summer.

The first remix comes from talented label boss Miguel Campbell. As well as turning out an album on Hot Creations, so has the man done an Essential Mix in recent times. He is at the very heart of the contemporary house scene and his remix proves why. Slowing things down to a sensual crawl there is more room to breath in this mix. The lulling kicks, heavenly pads and breathy vocals all sooth your soul and scream to be played at some pool party during the summer months thanks to their perfectly libidinous vibes.

Next up is the MAM remix – MAM is Miguel and fellow Leeds man Matt Hughes whose most recent works have been remixes of Climbers, Deadmau5 and Flight Facilities, as well as putting out releases via Wolf+Lamb, Future Classic, Hot Creations and Outcross itself. Together MAM up the disco ante with arp’ed synth lines, sprinkles of cosmic dust and lazy basslines that are delightfully uplifting. Buy this EP digitally and you will also get an exclusive remix from Hughes on his own. It’s a delightfully soulful and poppy affair awash with jazz chords and plenty of sing a long vocals that will calm you down and chill your right out no matter your mood.

Funky Fat then offer up ‘So Hot’, another breezy bit of deep and pop leaning house that is impossible not to nod to. Poised bass notes, louche claps and starry night sky keys all come together to magical and mind melting effect.

This is yet another terrific EP from Outcross that will bring both boys and girls to the floor all summer long.

Following EPs and 12”s on Wolf + Lamb, W+L Black, Life And Death, Bang The Box and their debut on Visionquest, PillowTalk present their debut LP, ‘Je Ne Sais Quoi’. As much a soundtrack to long nights as it is lazy days, there is something about the record that spans everything you want from the band: sun-splashed jams, peak-time party tunes and low-lit moments of intimacy.

The album has been a work in progress since the boys formed the group in their San Francisco studio and was recorded last year during a month at PDX Studios in Portland, Oregon, which sits overlooking the city and the gorgeous Mount Hood. It was a session that allowed the band to work communally, drawing from various ideas, as well as influences, which include the vast Americana of Bruce Springsteen, the wrought post dubstep of James Blake, the deep soul of Sam Cooke and the incendiary jazz of John Coltrane.

‘We All Have Rhythm’ is an anything-could-happen-tonight tune that you’ll want to be listening to at 11pm on a Friday; ‘Lullaby’ is the perfect dose of deepness for a loved-up 6am dancefloor; the off-kilter R&B ghetto tech of ‘4 Walls’ will fit the vibe at a woozy afterparty; and ‘LA To The Bay’ will rouse you and make you feel good the morning after as the sun comes up. This is music to suit all times, because that’s what PillowTalk is all about.

The broad nature of ‘Je Ne Sais Quoi’ came about because Sammy D (vocals), Michael Tello (producer) and Ryan Williams (multi-instrumentalist) pulled the record together from melodies thought up while on long plane journeys, impromptu jam throw downs in Berlin apartments and musical sketches created during long nights into early morning studio sessions sharing bottles of vodka. For instance, ‘4 Walls’ happened during a late night session, with the band throwing ideas around and with friends DOP and Navid Izadi. “We wanted to do something that wasn't a 122bpm 4/4 kick drum track, challenge ourselves musically and lyrically, so we made the song at 144 beats per minute but still gave it a soul vibe,” says Michael. The song took an hour and a half to write, whipped up in the heat and energy of the moment.

This organic way of working was what brought PillowTalk together in the first place. They formed after the three were mucking around on the baby grand piano in Ryan’s kitchen. A guitar and a Wurlitzer, some off-hand vocals, were thrown into the mix in true Doo-wop style. The EP, ‘The Come Back’, dropped on Life And Death in 2011 with their hit single 'Soft' and things started to roll.

Breakout hit ‘Far From Home’ on the ‘Far From Heaven’ EP in the same year was followed by the cheeky ‘Soul Edits’ 12” for Wolf + Lamb’s W+L Black imprint in 2012 which featured their classic remix of Bobby Hebb's, 'Sunny'. Then in 2013, the single ‘Lullaby’ backed with ’We All Have Rhythm’ dropped, giving a clear indication of how ‘Je Ne Sais Quoi' would sound: warm, lush and dreamy.

Though they’ve only been releasing records since 2011, the three have known each other for years. They met through djing parties and have been neighbors and even roommates. ‘Je Ne Sais Quoi’ sees them stepping into their own as a band, a statement of intent born from the highs and lows of their loves, laughs and heartbreaks thus far.

It’s always a challenge to summarize over a decade of work within the music industry. There are heaps of challenges both big and small one has to handle and embrace to remain fluid enough sway with the current of change. One of the biggest correlations that every accomplished artist we feature over SoundPark expresses is an acute level of patience and resolve to never lose sight of their artistic expression in its purest form. With fifteen years under his belt, Los Angeles based Michael Joseph’s accomplishments span across a variety of genres and pseudonyms. 

As SAAND, his melancholic audio tales are no doubt intended to motivate a floor over the course of an evening. The sulky textures that flow through SAAND’s palette add depth while simultaneously controlling the intensity of the music. As the Director and Senior Editor, Joseph regularly exhibits years of music knowledge to the outlet which has helped advance its reach far beyond its California walls. Music Is 4 Lovers has distinguished itself as a prominent independent music publication and Joseph’s influence is clear. Frankly, this is a great example of what separates an artist from a taste maker.  Over the next hour, audio story teller SAAND weaves a dynamic audio tale that seeks harmony between energy and gracefulness. Welcome to the Park <3

This set slowly wakes you up among swaying treetops in a misty forest in Sweden by grinningly bursting out "God morgon din tvivelaktiga figur!" as a reference to a troubadour of the past with a tiger on his chest.
You are then invited to visit both Africa and South America before returning home again..

I like nature and music and I like deep dives into the depths of my own mind.

It’s becoming more and more obvious that my mind is really busy - way too busy. It is always exposed - constantly receiving and absorbing, processing and changing.

I have therefore become more cautious of what I want to let into consciousness and taking regular breaks from the endless stream of stimuli and simply paying close attention to my mind has helped me pierce through the spellbinding clutter of unstoppable thoughts. To me, what reveals itself on the other side is a profound state of
calm. A calm from which natural curiosity, playfulness and love can spring freely.

Music is a channel where I express this natural playfulness that I believe we all share deep inside. Playing my music on top of the Robot Heart bus at their ten year anniversary was one of those precious moments where I felt you were responding to this - we were playing together.

When you express a similar joy and playfulness to that which I create the music with we set a beautiful feedback loop into motion. Getting eye contact with you and seeing how me and my wobbly harmonica notes crack you up into a big smile affects me and really fires me up. 

Your response inspires me to create more and feel more and
express myself more. 

I would like to send a big fat virtual hug to everyone who rode their bikes deep out into the playa that morning and to Robot Heart for  making me part of the family.

In farmer sets the melody is one of the most important things which is also nice presented by Couchgag aka Christoph Raddatz in this mix. Lot's of years ago he's an ambitioned listener and fan of deep and techy dancemusic. The impression he got on the dancefloor goes straight into his mixes and podcasts.

Pochwerk Mix#2 by Florian Paetzold

The Jaeger Mix is Oslo’s monthly ritual for deep listening and dance floor exploration, a midweek club night that doubles as a living archive of the city’s underground.
Taking place on select Wednesdays, the series pairs Jaeger resident Ivaylo with a rotating cast of DJs, producers, and live acts, capturing the sound of the night and preserving it as part of Jaeger’s ongoing story.
Each session is recorded in the club, followed by an interview with the guest, and later published as a feature on jaegeroslo.no - In this way, the Jaeger Mix lives beyond the dance floor — a document of Oslo’s electronic music culture, framed both in sound and in words.
Guiding the series is Ivaylo, a Bulgarian-born, Oslo-based DJ, producer, and curator. A long-standing Jaeger resident, label manager for Full Pupp, and founder of Lab Cleaning Jams, he has spent decades shaping Nordic club culture with his deep, soulful, and uncompromising approach to house and techno. His role in the Jaeger Mix is less about the spotlight and more about curation — weaving his own sets together with those of guests to tell the evolving story of the dance floor.
The Jaeger Mix stands as both a celebration of the present and a chronicle for the future, mapping Oslo’s nightlife one night, one mix, and one conversation at a time.
