Teeth

​A deeply personal indie folk reflection on the danger of pride and the liberation found in humility. This song is about tearing down the self-made 'fortress' of self-righteousness to embrace the true path laid out by God.

​Inspired by these powerful scriptures:
​Luke 18:9-14 (The Parable of the Pharisee and the Tax Collector): The contrast between the proud man standing tall and the humble man crying, "Lord, have mercy—know my name." is the core of Verse 2.

​Micah 6:8: The clear command that serves as the heart of the chorus: "He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God."

​John 13:1-17 (Jesus Washing the Disciples' Feet): The ultimate act of servant leadership and humility referenced in the Bridge.

The way you sang along to Covered In Chrome in the back seat, such a simple thing. I realised I couldn't be alone. It's a long way to Apollo Bay. If you keep singing like this I think I might like this too much. It's a bit too much. I think too much about the songs on your playlists. What does it say? What does it mean? What should I do when you lean in?

New Jersey's Front Bottoms have been climbing the indie hierarchy since 2008. Through a cult-like fan base, an abundance of critical reviews, and an extensive touring schedule with bands like Say Anything and Motion City Soundtrack, they finally reached the cusp with their highly anticipated 2013 album Talon of the Hawk.
