Melbourne purveyors of synth-funk, GL are back with all-new single ‘Number One’. 

The track release follows GL's stand-out performance at Splendour In The Grass in July, where Thompson also joined Mark Ronson onstage as part of his live supergroup. The pair emerged as a highlight of Sydney's OutsideIn Festival earlier this month, and promise to do the same again when they take to the stage at Meredith Music Festival this December.

An infectious treat of glowing synths, stratospheric vocals and luxurious neon-lit pop, "Number One" will enchant first time listeners as well as satiate fans of their debut EP ‘Love Hexagon’ in need of a GL fix.

GL - Number One

An unreleased track recorded in 1983 discovered in a dusty corner of the On-U tape archives. Taken from SCIENCE FICTION DANCEHALL CLASSICS, a curated selection of classics, rarities and unreleased tracks from the On-U Sound vaults by DJ & Audio Visual artist Trevor Jackson.

In some ways predicting the electro-fied sound of Neneh’s worldwide pop success with the Raw Like Sushi album, “Dead Come Alive” stems from a mid-80s period when Adrian took a production hiatus from his beloved reggae, deeply upset by the murder of his friend Prince Far I (he would later rekindle the dub flame when the opportunity arose in 1986 to work with hero Lee “Scratch” Perry). Instead he explored the possibilities of new studio technology. Early samplers and drum machines were put through their paces on work for the Tommy Boy label and remixes for the likes of Depeche Mode.

Neneh Cherry & The Circuit – Dead Come Alive

Following their limited edition 12" vinyl release, SPEED PAINTERS bring us the second installment of their debut recordings as a 6 track EP titled "BELLARINE II". This time they delve even further into the deeper, darker reaches of their sound, with ever-evolving arpeggiator rhythms, metallic  percussion and beautifully layered atmospheric house melodies. Speed Painters are a unique collective of musicians who improvise simmering, slow-burning house music, built from a foundation of techno, disco and experimental/found sound.

Over the past few years, the group (Nick Huggins, Oscar O’Bryan, Jon Tjhia and Tig Huggins) have bewitched dancefloors in the rainy backyards, band rooms and basement clubs of their hometown of Melbourne, building a cult underground following.

BELLARINE, (a two part release) is the fruit of a two-week summer recording session in the quiet coastal town of Point Lonsdale.
Taped in the shadow of ocean freighters, surf waves and coastal scrub, BELLARINE arose from improvisations between Speed Painters’ four members – delivering three songs that curve from minimal techno and balearic surf jams to grubby, visceral rhythm tracks.
