If i were to try to explain where this title/concept came from I'm afraid I would use all of the "characters" that SC allows me for a song description…and i would hate for you to get Lost in those details…so I will focus more on what the song is about…This song is about how the grass isn't always greener on the other side of the fence…how we think we would SO love to be in someone else's  shoes if only for a while. Sometimes, when we "borrow their shoes" we find that it's not all that it's cracked up to be and we quickly realize that staying in our own shoes is always the best way to be.

When Gary and I first spoke of this lyrical idea, he had a pretty clear idea of what kind of a "feeling" he wished for this tune to have…but we needed the words. So, given the title "Borrowed Shoes" he set me free and I started to write. Well, I am quite like a racehorse let out of the starting gates at this point and I just started writing…and writing some more…Gary had to rein me back in a few times as I was writing cool words but not exactly the words that we needed..nothing that "fit the vibe"…until i came up with what you will hear as the opening lines/verse…once those words came and Gary came back with the vocal melody it was ON!  We then, finished writing the lyrics together.

Gary came up with such a funky cool bass swagger which is what gave us the vibe we needed for our vocals…we did the back and forth singing thing until we had all of our vocals in place…after that, Gary got out his guitar and did the biz on the rest of this piece. I love how he weaved in and around our vocals in places…I am such a fan of his guitar work and style!!  

Once again, it was such a total joy and pleasure to create with Gary. I really love the vocal he is bringing to this piece..he found a different tone/vocal texture for each of his verses…each one unique and each one so totally cool. We have such a blast creating music…and, when we are done, it's not just a "new song" we have…it's a complete experience…with great memories and fun times…that, to me, is what it's all about…and, I'm so grateful that he continues to create such awesome pieces that we can sing on…cause it's much fun, oh yes indeed :)

The Eventide H910 Harmonizer was first demonstrated to universally positive reactions at the AES show in late 1974. It was designed by Eventide's first engineer, Tony Agnello (who went on to become the president of Eventide's audio division). The pre-production prototype was a hand-wired box topped with a music keyboard controller. Jon Anderson of the band Yes was among those impressed, and he became a tester for the first prototype. The production H910 was released in 1975, offering pitch shifting (±1 octave), delay (up to 112.5 ms), feedback regeneration and other features in an easy-to-use box that sold for $1,600. The H910 was named after a Beatles tune (the model number refers to the "One After 909").

The first H910 customer was New York City's Channel 5, utilising it to downward pitch shift I Love Lucy reruns that were sped up to create room to run more commercials. Speeding up the reruns had increased the pitch of the audio, and the H910 was able to shift that pitch back to where it originally had been. Frank Zappa added it to his guitar processing rig. Producer Tony Visconti used the H910 to create the snare sound on David Bowie's album Low, as did Tony Platt on AC/DC's song "Back in Black". Another popular application was to use two H910s slightly detuned with a small delay. Notable users of this twin Harmonizer effect included Eddie Van Halen, who used it for his trademark guitar sound, and Tom Lord-Alge, who used it for the vocals on the hit Steve Winwood song, "Back in the High Life Again". Recognising the popularity of this application, Eventide later recreated it as the "Dual 910" program in the H3000 UltraHarmonizer released in the late 1980s.

I saw and heard the nice Open Collab version of Sar's song and asked him if I can get the single tracks as wave.

I used Melodyne to get MIDI from the piano track and created 3 synth tracks and the bell type of sound with that, I kept the piano as well, but not over the whole song. Drums are Logics Drummer but I used the 16-track version to be allowed to treat each part individually. Then I added Yamaha Bass and several acoustic and electric guitars. The song was produced in Logic Pro 10 with loads of plugins from Waves, Apple, FabFilter and Plugin Alliance.
All thanks are going to Sar for his very good Open Collab template and for allowing me to add something to his magic! Cheers!

I play piano…by ear…no lessons…no rules. I just play what comes.  I love to find simple melodies and listen to them grow…

I enjoy singing…and I thank all of the amazing artists on the Cloud that have written music for me to sing to.

I am mostly known for my lyrics. I am a writer. It's taken me 42 years to say that…but, that's who I really am. I am a lover of words and the way they can be manipulated to tell a story. The simpler the better…the more relatable the better. I have written many, many lyrics for Stefan (Rock Flexible) who has created some pretty awesome musical worlds for these lyrics to live in.
