The piece is a part of the “Maps of non-existent cities” cycle of pieces of different instrumental combinations. It is an attempt to create inner geography and topography, internal outside world. We all have our unique relations with the outer world. In a way we create or construct it in accordance with our personal expectations and preferences. I always believed the process of perception is similar to that of peering into the darkness - while your eyes get accustomed to the darkness, objects’ shapes appear in space. And you never know if these new-born objects are real or imaginary. The graphical score of the piece puts musicians in the situation of wandering, navigating from one sound object to another one, from one page to another, creating the unique trajectory throughout the material.

This recording took place at festival new music: touchpoints, organized by Festival DME and Kyiv Contemporary Music Days at Lisboa Incomum (Portugal), on June 15th, 2018.

This piece is part of a cycle of pieces denominated Fluxus. In dimensional analysis, a dimensionless quantity is a quantity without an associated physical dimension. For this piece, musical processes were created in order to obtain layers with different physical (sound) qualities, where the dimensions of the sounds of the voice and flute are combined, resulting different qualities of perception. The rhythm is characterised by transformations of cells which are often complemented by secondary simultaneous rhythmic transformations on the voice, whose melodic and harmonic content is derived from processes analog to the referred transformations. Each subsection of the piece comprises a cycle of transformations, often expanded or compressed, where a dominant sound characteristic and type of transformation is to be perceived.

He received prizes in Portugal (Jorge Peixinho Competition, 3 Workshop Gulbenkian for Portuguese Composers, etc), his music was selected to be presented at the ICMC 2005 (Barcelona), ICMC 2014 (Atenas), IRCAM Manifeste Academie 2013, 1º prize in competition arte! ⋈ clima 2014 for category "Pobreza Cero. Emisiones Cero" with the work “Omniscience is a Collective”, etc. He took part of several scientific revision committees, namely, ICMC 2012. Researcher at Institute of Ethnomusicology. Member of ASEFUAN. Artistic director of festival Dias de Música Electroacústica (since 2003). Director of Conservatório de Música de Seia (since 2007). Professor at Piaget Institute and Universidade Nova de Lisboa.
Had commissions from UFT/INATEL, Grupo de Música Contemporânea de Lisboa, Festival Primavera, APEM (Portugal), Logos Foundation (Belgium), F.L.S.I. (Paris), etc.
His music has been presented in Europe. He travelled for 5 years to work in Asia (Beijing, Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Philippines, etc) and 4 years to Brazil (UNICAMP, UFBA, UFMG, UDESC, UFRJ, etc).
