“Try a Little Tenderness” was composed by James Campbell and Reginald Connelly and Harry M. Woods. It was introduced by Bing Crosby in 1933. Subsequent recordings and performances were done by such recording artists as Frank Sinatra, Mel Tormé, Nina Simone, and Nancy Wilson. An entirely new version was recorded by Otis Redding in 1966. Redding was backed on his version by Booker T. & the MG’s. Redding’s recording features a slow soulful opening that eventually builds into a frenetic R&B conclusion. It has been named on a number of “best songs of all time” lists.

There is no love story that is unique, yet no love story is the same. My love happened to be deeply intertwined with music and with my husband. When he asked me to improvise different feelings on my piano, I didn't think it would end up as a story of our life: from the anticipation of the first date, from the surprise and joy of new relations to the moments of doubt and fear, disgust and anger, followed by guilt, sadness and contemplation. But above all it always comes down to trust and... 

LOVE! The twelfth, concluding track from my new album "Yet Another Love Story", telling the story of my love and music. I let my piano play and it sang me this song, jazzy and romantic, swinging and rocking, lush harmonies and memorable motifs.

Don Grolnick was a two-fisted session pianist who also played with Michael Brecker in Steps Ahead and other groups.  His remarkable composition, Pools,  originally had an extended "verse" (or intro)which was fully half the song and is rarely heard now, but Axel Weiss recalls the flavor of it with his bossa ending.

“But Beautiful” was composed by Jimmy Van Heusen and Johnny Burke in 1947. It was introduced by Bing Crosby in the movie Road to Rio. But Beautiful has been a favorite of pop and jazz vocalists for generations. Billie Holiday included her gorgeous version in her amazing album Lady in Satin. It has also been recorded by Tony Bennett, Bill Evans, Barbra Streisand, Shirley Horn and Stan Getz among others.
