In 1998 the first of a highly renowned series of colour-coded vinyl singles appeared in record stores: Orange. Green. Blue. A new production duo were born, Circulation, and they delivered a sound uniquely theirs. Check the past releases on labels from Hooj Choons to End Recordings; an amalgamation of deep tech and moody hypnotic house, it’s a sound that doesn't fit into any neat categorisation. 

They continued their chromatically named ways until 2005 when the duo parted. Now, Paul Davis fly the Circulation flag solo, regularly releasing on labels from Bedrock to Selador. As showcased on this Balance Selections mix, his take on dance music is still as cerebral and mood-inflected as it was 20 years ago.

SCI+TEC further strengthen their European connection by welcoming a new Romanian - Spanish pairing in the form of A++ & Rosper. 

Now based in Amsterdam, Sugar Factory resident A++ has already seen his music supported by many of the scenes leading lights and signed to labels including KMS and Intacto. Valencia’s Rosper, a regular behind the decks of the city’s famous Barraca club, stormed the download charts with his very first release, on Stickrecordings. 

Together the pair bring us the 'Bombshell' Ep, a three track offering that showcases their dark, minimal movements to perfection. Leading the release is the bubbling title track with its roof-raising rises and thumping kick drum. 

A++ flies solo on 'V1olence' and delivers a menacing number that's powered by a throbbing cardiac beat and growling bassline. 

Back together on the final cut and the duo turn gangster with ‘M.obscene’. A housier vibe than the previous pair, A++ & Rosper finish on a high with shuffling snares and a feel-good flourish.

Schubert Has Fallen was first featured on SCI+TEC back in 2011 with his debut track ’Cubist’ opening the Formula 2 V/A. A year later he was back with his very own full release, the excellent ’Temporal’ Ep, and last year saw him complete an impressive trio with the release of the mighty ‚Gork’. 

’Re(Fire)’ is the latest offering from the Black Swan Recordings boss. A Tomorrowland highlight for label boss Dubfire, the title track is a powerful pace-setter with its throbbing bass and immersive rushes. ’Aligned’ presents a similar minimal make up. Bold drums and fluid sci-fi sounds create an electrifying suspense.

’Splinter’ is the perfect finalé. Its beatless soundtrack is the perfect intro or, as here, outro, enveloping the listener with its intense and yet soothing wall of sound.

@My-Favorite-Robot-Records final EP of 2017 comes from Entschuldigung, and is a suitably impressive offering to end another fine year.

@WeAreEntschuldigung are an exciting collaboration between two musicians from the electro pop music world, namely French house pioneer Guillaume Atlan & Stephane- Lebenson. They love old school pop and minimal retro sounds and use vintage drum machines to craft their productions as showcased on their well-received last single ‘Gina Cecello’, which dropped earlier this year.

Their first superb single here ‘Lekeleu’ is five fresh minutes of slippery electro. With dehumanised vocals stitched into the groove and sci-fi synths darting about, it is full of energy and futurism. 

The fantastic ‘Farenheit’ is a slower, more edgy affair with darker drums. Gurgling bass and arpeggiated chords bring an intergalactic feel and keep you on your toes until they resolve and the kicks carry you away. It’s a bright, shiny affair with a pumping groove and great sense of melody.

For the third release on Ibiza and NYC-based Eyedyllic Music, the label has conjured up a wonderfully global 'meeting of the minds' between the Grammy-nominated Canadian producer, James Teej, and the up-and-coming Milan-based artist, Keira.

With After the Storm, Teej has reached into his songwriting repertoire and sang some heartfelt and sonically pleasing vocals, atop some marvelously melancholy melodies, written by Keira. Together, the unlikely creative pairing of artists have woven together a wonderful tapestry of emotion, which tells a tale of end-of-summer romance, while packing it all nicely into a wonderful electronic soundscape.

Straddling the line between electronica and pop, After the Storm is a unique perspective into what the Eyedyllic aural landscape looks like. It's all about passion, organic and heartfelt instrumentation, and for labelheads Mik Santoro and Kev Obrien, it's about weaving together musical moments between artists and creating through the art of A&R, which is often overlooked in the dance music industry.

Out of every burgeoning music scene across the globe, a few choice people often reach out of the confines of their home country, going on to share their unique vision, creativity and musical talent with people across the globe. James Teej has done just that with his music career that spans already 20 years. 

The Grammy Nominated (2017 Best Remixed Recordings) Canadian born electronic music artist, producer and DJ, who currently resides in Victoria, British Columbia, has carved out his own musical space with a seasoned music career that has included releases on some of the World's most cutting edge and sought after labels, leaving behind a consistent discography of boundary pushing music that spans across all genre's of eclectic underground electronic. 

With all this under his belt, and no signs of slowing down, he has already fast become one of Canada’s influential stars in the global underground electronic music scene.

In 2007, James began releasing his innovative sound to the world on what has now become a long list of respected recording labels including: Rekids, Rebellion/Crosstown Rebels, No.19 Music, My Favorite Robot (of which he was a member and label A&R), Sasha's Last Night On Earth, Get Physical, Rebirth Records, Supernature, We Play House, Galaktika Records, Apersonal, Connect Four Records, Perspectiv, and many more. He has released two full length solo albums, both receiving worldwide critical acclaim and support.

Constantly pushing sonic boundaries, all the while exploring the deepest recesses of house, techno and electronica, James’ music has been enjoyed the world over. His formidable catalogue also includes a long list of remixes and collaborations with such artists as Paul McCartney & Wings, Moby, Kidnap Kid, Sasha, Timo Maas, Trentemøller, Hernan Cattaneo, DJ T, dOP, Matt Tolfrey, Teleman, Life On Planets, Kenny Glasgow (of Art Department), and many more. With this, James has become a highly sought after collaborator and Grammy Nominated remixer for labels and artists around the globe.

With track support from the worlds top DJs and producers, a list that includes Pete Tong, Sasha, Laurent Garnier, Carl Craig, Radio Slave, Carl Cox, Danny Tenaglia, Jamie Jones, Maceo Plex, Nick Warren, Seth Troxler, Damian Lazarus, and many more, James has managed to carve out his own space in the global electronic music scene.
