A proposed soundtrack that uses the sounds of jazz to convey car horns, sudden stops, traffic that first crawls and then speeds, with scurrying pedestrians, splashes, and the tapping of windshield wipers.

I wrote this 12 years ago when I had the ambition to produce a short film. There's still no movie, but I've updated the music to a very chill 69 bpm for a jazzy Rainy Commute — something to enjoy while the traffic rushes by on a gloomy, wet day.

There was a time when I wanted to create a piano piece that feels like singing. The name of my piano trio during that period was "Scottish Fold," inspired by my love for cats—specifically a cat encyclopedia I was browsing through. This track embodies the essence of a gathering place for jazz-loving cat enthusiasts, evoking a sense of beauty and expansion. It balances tranquility with dynamic expression, making it a truly captivating jazz piece.

In Search of Purpose
There is a moment, imperceptible and fleeting, when the soul realizes it has no direction. It is in that instant that the search begins. "In Search of Purpose" is not an answer, but a question that repeats itself, reflecting, dissolving, and returning—never fully disappearing.
The first notes are hesitant steps on a path veiled in uncertainty. Each sound lingers in the air, caught between the desire to move forward and the fear of finding nothing at all. The piano does not tell a story—it listens. It is the breath of possibility, the echo of something just beyond reach.
Beneath the melody, the bass moves like a silent river—at times tranquil, at times restless. The harmonies fracture, chase one another, searching but never quite touching. Every chord is a crossroad, every dissonance a doubt made flesh.
And then, a flash. A thought, perhaps an illusion. The melody lifts for a moment, as if it has grazed the edge of some hidden truth. But truth, as we know, is a reflection on water—one breath is enough to scatter it into a thousand ripples.
There is no resolution, because there cannot be. The search continues, an endless cycle of what we are and what, perhaps, we will never be.

Released on Piano Day 2025, In Search of Purpose is a deeply personal piece born from the quiet urge to understand.

Each note moves like a thought taking shape—sometimes clear, sometimes uncertain—gently flowing like waves under a quiet sky.
There’s no rush, no destination. Just a moment of presence, of listening.
The piano doesn’t tell a story—it reflects a feeling. A stillness, a question, a breath.
In Search of Purpose is for those moments when you don’t know where you’re going, but you still choose to keep walking.

Suite Excêntrica, is a long, through-composed piece for piano and double bass. 
(and a few strings, sprinkled in here and there)
The longer format, is something I've wanted to experiment with for a while, and in some ways, gives you more freedom to play around with shorter fragments of melody, that come in and out without necessary being developed in the way they might be in song form.

Proud to be joined on this by the wonderful Gonçalo Naia on bass.

Didn't know how this would turn out, but in the end pleased with the result.

Franco-British pianist and composer.
Grew up in Paris then moved to the US to study at Boston’s Berklee College of Music. After graduating lived in New York for six years and worked as a vocal accompanist, a music educator and led a trio,  recording eight albums, and accompanying performers such as Gino Sitson and Amy Winehouse.
After eleven years in the US, returned to Europe - now based in Lisbon, Portugal.

About the music:


I'm interested in simple ideas that go to unexpected places. Small melodic or harmonic shifts that surprise me. It’s not just something I search for in my own music, but also in other people’s.

Then there's the interaction with other musicians.
Finding a balance between individual and group expression - it doesn’t always work but when it does, feels like having a great conversation.
