Yes that’s right, this Saturday I’m brought you a showcase special on Cutters Choice Radio focusing purely on the one of my favourite artists from back in the day Dylan Rhymes aka Marvin Beaver.

There are so many good tracks that it was difficult to fit them all into 2 hours, but on this mix you can hear plenty of originals and plenty or remixes and collabs with the likes of Unkle, Christian J (Party People remember that one…wotachoon…!) Meat Katie, Deep Dish and plenty more.

Also as an extra special treat I ripped some of my old vinyl as Marvin was also responsible (in the main) for the booty breaks series on DDB records which to this day are still some of my favourite bootlegs so expect to hear some classics like Bolland Breaks (CJ Bolland), Left of Life (Leftfield) and Brighton Rock (Lionrock) plus plenty of others.

"Beyond the Sea" is a 1946 contemporary pop song with music taken from the song "La Mer" by Charles Trenet and lyrics by Jack Lawrence.
Trenet had composed "La Mer" (which means "The Sea") with French lyrics totally different and unrelated to the English language version that Lawrence composed. Trenet's French version was a homage and ode to the changing moods of the sea, while Lawrence, by just adding one word "Beyond" to the title, gave him the start whereby he made the song into one of a lover pining for a lost love  It was recorded in 1958 and made popular in 1959 by the late Bobby Darin.

"Viva la Vida" is a song by the British alternative rock band Coldplay. It was written by all members of the band for their fourth album, Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends (2008), and was released as the second single from the album. Viva la Vida means "Long Live Life" in Spanish.

The lyrics to the song contain historical and Christian references, and the acoustic track used for this cover was by Kris Farrow.

"All by Myself" is a power ballad written and performed by Eric Carmen in 1975.

The verse is based on the second movement (Adagio Sostenuto) of Sergei Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 2 in C minor, Opus 18. The chorus borrows from the song "Let's Pretend" that Carmen had written for the Raspberries in 1973.

The song was the first release from Carmen's first solo LP after leaving the power pop group the Raspberries and was originally recorded by the author and released in December 1975 to great success. 

Carmen's original version has spawned numerous cover versions by such artists as Céline Dion, Frank Sinatra, and Igudesman & Joo.
