Ingvar Tautra https://soundcloud.com/agnosturaelwar recently posted a group of instrumental tracks for open collaboration. One of them was a charming solo guitar that really spoke to me, but also seemed a little lonely up there all by itself. It is the first thing you will hear. I added to it only minimally, a bass and two guitars.

Short Tales of the Green Forest

This is a trio piece for acoustic guitar, exploring different styles and moods, ranging from Jazz and Fusion to Flamenco, Classical and Latin. It is free in form, sometimes it flows into new sections to another times abruptly switching. I play all three parts with a main solo part that regularly is improvised. 

The title is a nod to the famous guitar trio... ;)

This song has always been special to me so I wanted to do a cover for it the best that I could. I was singing it line by line and trying to get it perfect but it was just sounding too robotic. I took a break from it and the next day did it all in one take. Even though there's parts of it that I probably could have done better, it sounded so much more emotional and I think that makes up for any parts that could be technically better. In the end, it's just a tribute to one of my favourite songs.

Originally from Chicago, where I developed a strong appreciation for the blues and classical, and moved to New York, where jazz and the fine arts are so deep.
