Has been way too long since Ian and I got together so we whipped up a burning tune this weekend that got the blood flowing.  Ian busts out his signature funky wah wah like no one else can and rest is history.  Find a great groove and go with it.  Think you will dig this one.  Today is Herbie Hancock's 75th birthday, so I decided to go with some real funky synth playing here to recognize this genius and influence and also try and keep up with Ian.  Was tough, but pleased with the results.    Have to throw a nod to Billy Cobham's Spectrum with Jan Hammer and the late Tommy Bollin, as shades here of that great album too.

Return to the Light (cello, solo viola, viola sections and piano)

The basic bed tracks of this composition were done back in 2013 with just piano and cello and then placed carefully and hopefully on the back burner. I then decided to resurrect it as it just seemed to resonate recently, so I added some other solo viola and minimal viola section parts. Hope you enjoy listening to it as much as I did composing it. 

I must add that the cello part is a virtual instrument called Blackus. At the time in 2013 it was in beta form, and programmed for Kontakt Sampler by an “actual” cellist from Australia by the name of Blake Robinson. And best of all, it was free. The little VI company Embertone picked it up later on and developed it further, but I really like the sound of the original version as well. Grit and all. The solo viola is by Audio Modeling. 

The title, Return to the Light was inspired in part by the condition of the world in 2025 as it seems to be heading to a very uncertain and dangerous place. I feel that eventually we will realize that we can’t keep doing things with unprecedented greed and corruption. Our technology is also getting much too advanced for our collective maturity especially in the war department. Science and technology when used for good is a very good thing but for some it is becoming the new God. Science without morals or caring is just materialism, but to be fair, spirituality, religion/morals without science can be superstition. They must agree.

Une Histoire

'Shadows In Fallen Clouds' Chemtrails are covering our skies worldwide daily. These chemtrails contain a mixture of chemicals and heavy metals. Most of the worlds population appear to think that these chemtrails are clouds or contrails and some are even oblivious to their very existence. However I am not and am well aware that what is being sprayed artificially in the upper atmosphere, won't stay there for long and will soon succumb to gravity. So then these chemtrails start to fall to earth, with their pollutant toxins. We are then breathing these in and eating the food produced from the contaminated ground and drinking the water. 
My track then 'Shadows In Fallen Clouds' is my protest to this assault on the earth and every living thing on it.

an older tune I cleaned up a bit
it is a tribute to actor, singer, dancer, artist, and author Russ Tamblyn, who turns 91 in December.

I wrote the song around the time I retired from my  medical career. So  along with references to  Russ and childhood memory, there are veiled allusions to this strange  new exciting but a bit unsettling life circumstance in the lyric.

As per Russ 
He danced and acted in Westside story  and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers most famously but was in a bunch of movies in the 50s and 60s.. and ....my favourite as a kid was the War of the Gargantuas, which  for Russ was a creative low point ..but  it got him to Japan
