Senor Carlos - A Tribute to Santana with Joe Bongiovanni / guitar

We had a blast pulling this together.  Its a simple blues/gospel riff on organ in F, that sets up some wonderful opportunities for heavy jams over the top by Justin and Tom, two of the finest blues players I have ever recorded with.  Tom has the solos with a more treble sound, and Justin boosts his midrange and bass.  Check out their SoundCloud pages if you are not familiar.  They are bad ass, just like this tune. Bad Ass Blues - with Justin Valente and Tom Adams / guitars

What fun pulling this together with three serious musicians.  You probably know Joe Bongiovanni and Justin Valente's awesome blues oriented guitars, and they stretch out here on this funk / soul / fusion groove.  Burning it up they are.  And joining us on Alto Sax is recording artist Matt Criscuolo.  Look for him at mattcriscuolo.com.  These guys just play their ass off here.  Started with an internet fusion loop, I added many keyboard lines to funk it up to the max, and we added these pros.  Joe takes the opening solos for the first four minutes, Justin follows, and we finish with all the guys trading off.  So much energy.  Positive energy here.  Put this on and relax. Funk And Burn - With Joe Bongiovanni and Justin Valente guitars and Matt Criscuolo alto sax

Created this tune to combine elements of rock and fusion, and was looking to set up soloing similar to what John McLaughlin and Jeff Beck did with Jan Hammer. Busting Out - with Ronny Heimdal / guitar

How special for me to have been a part of this collaboration with the young and extraordinary Dutch composer/guitarist/keyboard player Rients Draaisma.  While my hope was to create a forum for a call and response type solo between my synth and Rients' soaring creative guitar ala John McLaughlin and Jan Hammer in the Mahavishnu Orchestra, Rients immediately turned it up several levels to create what we have here.   The head came from a synth solo line of mine that was then adjusted by Rients to meet the intricate and changing meter.  Everything else Rients did - the composition, the most intricate drum tracks, and his very deep soloing.  All  Overnight.  Wow.

Goin' Home - with Ian Tait / guitar

Bringing a soulful sound to SoundCloud with this one.  Lifetime recording artist, soul vocalist, saxophone and harmonica player Johnny Pugh sits in with blues guitarist extraordinaire Justin Valente and me on an emotional Ray Charles type slow jam.  What a wonderful surprise to hear Johnny's beautiful harp lines, which fit perfectly with Justin's raw electric blues energy. Soul Brothers - with Justin Valente guitar and Johnny Pugh blues harp and horns

So much fun to have musicians all over the world play together, and this jam includes three of my very favorite guitarists and musicians here on SoundCloud...Tom Adams, Ian Tait and Justin Valente.  These guys can all light up a stage, and graciously came together for this funky collaboration.  If you aren't following them all you should be - you'll be getting fresh tracks almost every day from each.  Tom and Justin are both from the US (Austin and NYC), and Ian hails from Edinburgh, Scotland.   For our Summer Funk Jam here, we started with a very funky internet backing track, allowing everyone to dig in and do their thing.  You'll recognize each of the guys' styles if you've been listening to their galleries, and together it makes for some serious Summer Funk. A swinging shuffle with the outstanding Justin Valente on electric guitar.  Justin developed this 12 bar blues after listening to one of his favorite bands, Gov't Mule. Ever since I found SoundCloud I have wanted to record with Italy's Daniele Turani https://soundcloud.com/danieleturani one of the finest guitarists I have heard here.  Daniele is a true master of progressive rock and has recorded and produced several ambitious albums of superb music which I have - and you should too. That Feeling - with Daniele Turani / guitar

Here's a funky electric blues in the style of the great blues masters Albert King, Freddie King and Albert Collins.   Tom Adams  https://soundcloud.com/tytlblues brings his serious Texas blues guitar sound and playing for this, using an Epi 335 and simply burns it up with strong, emotional and inspiring lines.  I'm doing my thing with a Hammond B3 sound, and we were fortunate to start with a real nice backing track that sets the groove.   We thank you so much for listening and for your comments too. The 'Funky Grabs' - Collaboration with Jamie Rhind

Together.    A remarkable gathering of more than twenty of my favorite SoundCloud musicians.  Guitars, keyboards, basses, tenor sax, clarinet and vocals. Together's musicians are serious creative instrumentalists and are inspirations to so many.  Many are recording artists.  The finest players I know here.   So many are simply remarkable.
   
Together represents what SoundCloud is about, and how effectively musicians can work across the world.   Musicians who have never ever even spoken with each other, but recognize each other by their sounds and the notes, rhythms and phrases they play.  Pretty damn cool.

12 countries are represented here  -- Canada, Dubai, England, Germany, Italy, Japan, The Netherlands, Norway, Scotland, Spain, Sweden and the US.   

There are two sections to the piece - a blues piece and a modal fusion section, with soloists across each part, showcasing their distinctive voices.  Vocalatti's beautiful singing is woven throughout the piece - her words and voice really pull us together.  The wonderful keyboard head during the opening and closing was composed and performed by Calaminus, who also has added the great organ comping you hear throughout.   The first and last soloists are brilliant musicians and soloists, as are so many throughout.    

It's been such a pleasure to pull this together over the past 3 weeks.  So sit back and enjoy a true SoundCloud experience.

This was something special! This track is a collaboration between Daniel van den Berg aka Danarchx on guitars and Jamie Rhind on Organ, strings synth and bass Synth. We aimed for a kind of Deep Durple meets Al Di Meola meets Yngwie kind of thing. It was cool and courageous of Jamie trying on a loud rock/metal piece but the result is... Well you judge!

Drag Racers on the Spanish Highway - Part 1 - Featuring Jamie Rhind

Dan van den Berg steals the show here on a Miles type modal groove, while breaking a high E string in the process.  See if you can find where:)  A special tune for us to toast Miles like this.  From the late 60s on Miles always had one or two super serious fusion guitar players on stage with him - John McLaughlin, Pete Cosey, Mike Stern, Barry Finnerty, John Scofield, Robin Ford and Foley. Taking It Up - Dan van den Berg / Jamie Rhind

Always exciting for me to have an opportunity to perform and record with Norway's brilliant fusion guitarist, composer and recording engineer Ronny Heimdal https://soundcloud.com/ronny-heimdal .  I started working on this tune late this summer when one of other favorite guitarists Justin Valente https://soundcloud.com/justin-valente sent me a funk track to collaborate on.  6 weeks went by and I was waiting for Justin to add his solos to it.  But I forgot the original track had come from Justin and then asked Ronny to do his thing with the opening and solos, and posted, without giving credit to Justin for setting the groove - or even the original idea.  SO SORRY JUSTIN!  Memory lapse!

With the new tune, Ronnie kicks it into high gear immediately on this funk fusion jam, and just doesn't let up.  Not only is he bringing his A game to make this come alive, but he's also brought his knowledge and ear to create the right sound and balance.  If you are fan of superb guitar, of jazz rock fusion, and of modal pieces, this one's for you   -  Go Ahead Ronny...named after a classic tune Miles Davis did on Big Fun, with John McLaughlin stretching it out over a modal groove....  Perhaps I should rename it So Sorry Justin:)

After the Race there are the tumbling weeds carried by the wind flying by, rolling on the highway. This is part 2 of the Drager Dracers on the Spanish Highway, with the marvelous allround musician and keyboard master extra-ordinaire Jamie Rhind.
