It's always a pleasure to be working with high flying Texas bluesman Tom Adams @tytlblues . Tom is so well known here on SoundCloud because of his ability to play and record blues classics and originals, his prolific work, his fine collaborations with serious musicians, and his spirit in following and sharing other's best music. Almost every day, his followers are treated to pure, authentic blues.  Tom knows the blues, he lives the blues, and he shares the blues.  Damn right he's got the Blues!

We had a blast pulling this together.  Its a simple blues/gospel riff on organ in F, that sets up some wonderful opportunities for heavy jams over the top by Justin and Tom, two of the finest blues players I have ever recorded with. Bad Ass Blues - with Justin Valente and Tom Adams / guitars

So much fun to have musicians all over the world play together, and this jam includes three of my very favorite guitarists and musicians here on SoundCloud...Tom Adams, Ian Tait and Justin Valente.  These guys can all light up a stage, and graciously came together for this funky collaboration.  If you aren't following them all you should be - you'll be getting fresh tracks almost every day from each.  Tom and Justin are both from the US (Austin and NYC), and Ian hails from Edinburgh, Scotland.   For our Summer Funk Jam here, we started with a very funky internet backing track, allowing everyone to dig in and do their thing.  You'll recognize each of the guys' styles if you've been listening to their galleries, and together it makes for some serious Summer Funk. Summer Fun(k) Jam - collab with Tom Adams, Ian Tait and Justin Valente / guitars

It's back to school time for so many and that has students singing the blues! Thought we'd commemorate this time of the year with an electric blues, and asked the superb Tom Adams https://soundcloud.com/tytlblues to join me.   Tom knows I love funk, and when this backing track with my electric guitar solo keyboard patch landed in his email, was probably a little funkier and more electric than his norm.  But damn, check out what he's done to challenge me.  Listening as always, he throws back some serious pitch bends, distortion, and mimics beautifully what I am doing on the synthesizer.  I have the first solo, Tom follows and we're off to the races together.  Thanks for the fun Tom....always a pleasure.

Back To School Blues - with Tom Adams / guitar

Tom and I came together here to record one of my very favorite Rock tunes, Feeling Alright.  Originally written by Dave Mason and performed by Traffic, the tune was picked up by the great Joe Cocker, performed at Woodstock, and the rest is history.  A great I-IV groove that just brings home emotion.  Tom had recorded this without piano and I immediately jumped in to ask if I could add the defining part (at least for me ).  No vocals here but I threw in the trombone melody to help bring back the proper vibe.  Hopefully the passion comes through with our recording. Here's a funky electric blues in the style of the great blues masters Albert King, Freddie King and Albert Collins.   Tom Adams  https://soundcloud.com/tytlblues brings his serious Texas blues guitar sound and playing for this, using an Epi 335 and simply burns it up with strong, emotional and inspiring lines.  I'm doing my thing with a Hammond B3 sound, and we were fortunate to start with a real nice backing track that sets the groove.   We thank you so much for listening and for your comments too. Friday Blues Collab  - With Tom Adams / Guitar

Here's a smooth souljazz recording Tom Adams, BigMamaDee (Debbie Deijkers)and I recorded recently.  Features BigMamaDee's beautiful voice, and Tom doing his George Benson interpretation.  Not the usual blues we have pulled off together in the past, but something a little softer and smoother to start the New Year with.  So great to be playing with SC's blues legendary duo, who have recorded more than 30 tunes here together.

We Are Charlie

The "Master of the Stratocaster" Tom Adams  https://soundcloud.com/ytlblues is making his long awaited return tonight!  I'm overjoyed and hoping you are too. 

Tom lives and breathes the blues, and is so pure in his approach to its many styles.  I've been really fortunate to been able to record a lot with Tom over the last year here.  But even when he saddened his thousands of followers by turning off his SoundCloud to take a much needed break from the action, we've communicated behind the scenes and recorded a little, just waiting for the right moment to make his "Second Coming".  Well I guess tonight is the night, and we are pleased to be releasing this slow, grinding blues - textbook stuff for both Tom and me.  I'm busting out both the piano and B3 on this one, and Tom brings his trademark Texas blues sound, which I hope brings some tears to your eyes.

The Blues is Back in Town - with Tom Adams/guitar....please read

Not only has Tom Adams https://soundcloud.com/ytlblues come home to SoundCloud, but he's bringing the blues with him.   Two days after making his "Second Coming" here, he's thrown out a collab request for others to play with him.  So I've taken the challenge and we've got the "I'm Coming Home Blues".   Tom's playing is real strong here, and just listen to him tear up the third and final verse.  High energy and beautiful blues.  I've added the piano track and my Hammond Organ solos.  

And if you love the blues and great guitar playing and haven't yet hit the follow button for Tom, I know he would love to have you among his quickly expanding group of followers.

I'm Coming Home Blues - with Tom Adams / guitar

Prayer time for one of SoundCloud's most dynamic blues vocalists, Holland's Debbie Deijkers, aka bigmamaDee https://soundcloud.com/thingsfromthepast .   Tom Adams and I have recorded this blues tune to honor bigmamaDee's contribution to the blues vocabulary here, which includes over 30 recordings with Tom, and several that include me.  

For those who are not yet aware, Debbie is suffering from severe medical complications which have limited her ability to walk, to move, and to sing.   Far more complicated that that, but you'll have to go to her wonderful gallery here to learn more.  Her recent hospitalization has us all feeling the blues, and so we've recorded this blues as a prayer for her.  

The comments and support for Debbie and her music are very important to her, and the SoundCloud community is something that provides a healing and soothing during these impossible times.  Please send your love to her, and check out the music she has created for all of us.

Rock Me Baby - The Global Soundcloud Blues Explosion

If you're into the blues here on SoundCloud you've got to be following San Antonio's Tom Adams https://soundcloud.com/ytlblues .  Tom is a master blues player and just loves to interpret so many styles.  Truth be told, Tom posted this bad ass Johnny Winter style BB King tune up for a couple of minutes and took it down because he thought it was a bit wild and aggressive - my adjectives here but that's the idea.  But I quickly encouraged him to put it back up and he suggested my adding a little organ solo to it - which I jumped on immediately.  So here's a little heavy blues - the kind of electric blues that I just love - that reminds me of what I hear in the Chicago blues clubs when the band really wants to get that raw blues sound.  It only works with a great guitar player and we sure have one with Tom.  Thanks for throwing it back up and allowing me a minute of fun with you once again.  Let Tom know we want to hear more of this type of playing:)))  He needs encouragement to let his hair down.

My Old Friend - with Tom Adams and Mike Orzek guitars

Having grown up in Chicago, the blues is a huge part of my musical background and interest.  In fact, our two dogs are named Buddy Guy (pictured here) and Otis Rush, for two of the baddest players of all time.  For blues there is simply nothing like Chicago.  Sweet Home Chicago is one of the most famous blues tunes, a hard swinging shuffle, and one that resonates so well with midwesterners...in fact anyone who loves the blues.  You may remember it from the classic Blues Brothers movies, and it has been covered by every major blues artist.  Legendary Texas SC Blues guitarist Tom Adams released this collab track yesterday and I had to jump in with him with my piano and Hammond B3 sounds.  Always a pleasure and such fine playing on your part once again Tom.  We've done more than 20 tracks together here on SC and there's always a spark when we hit the stage. Sweet Home Chicago - with Tom Adams / guitar

Time for some slow blues, just the kind where Texas Tom Adams shines.  He invited me once again to join him here on Highway 61 Blues.  Highway 61 (Route 61)is referred to as "blues highway", and is the major north / south highway that connects New Orleans with Minneapolis, linking Memphis and St. Louis too.  Some classic blues along that way for sure.  So many greats have written and sung about Highway 61.   Tom has created a slow blues that captures the essence of the historic road, the history behind and the players who have documented it.

Highway 61 Blues - with Tom Adams/guitar

Here's a swinging classic blues shuffle with Georgia's soulful and prolific NayJ https://soundcloud.com/nayj-2 and Texas true bluesman Tom Adams joining me for Sweet Home Chicago.  Having grown up in Chicago, this one runs deep.  You may remember it from the Blues Brothers movie, Saturday Night Live or so many other interpretations.  Now, with Nay Nay great singing here, everyone just has to hit the dance floor!  She has done a marvelous job interpreting this blues classic, and adding some real sweet harmony vocals in as well.  Tom is of course one of the great blues guitar players here - though has recently taken a sabbatical from SoundCloud - and a big thanks to him for setting this up so well. Sweet Home Chicago - with NayJ vocals and Tom Adams guitar

Here's a extended original with SoundCloud's Texas bluesman extraordinaire Tom Adams.  So great to have Tom's tasteful guitar back again...he’s taken a few months off after the most difficult news of his father's recent passing.  Singing the blues for sure...and I've lost both my parents the past 3 years.  So we’re dedicating this tune to Lloyd, to help keep Tom's father's spirit alive with our SC friends, and to help ease the pain Tom has gone through - and so many others have here as well.

The opening I-IV groove is in the style of jazz organ legend Jimmy McGriff and soul jazz duo Les McCann /Eddie Harris - a simple, grooving little number to get your feet tapping, your hands clapping, and your head bobbing.
