Let's Make A Connection

The Story of Pendle Witches is sad tail. The Devil rides out? Mass hysteria in 1612? Or Rich men pandering to their new King who had already written a book on Witches? There are many sides to the story and novels new and old to tell them. In all 10 people were hanged because Alizon had asked a Tinker (John Law) for a little pin one night. He said no, then something happened that led to his illness. From there it escalated.

You can read the trial in notes here: https://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/18253 for free. In the excellently titled "Wonderful discovery of Witches". The more you read the more you see women trusting in a system of law that is too young and too managed by "clever" men to do them true justice.

So this is my song of Alizon Device, I hope I have worded this song as ambiguously as I can. Alizon confessed, but do we all agree that she was capable of unpressured confession? She had a hard life and did not have many capabilities to create income. So this is a little of her story as I imagine it and a little bit of folk rock into the bargain.

The tune was inspired after seeing Martin Simpson this weekend in Blakeney. Try a different tuning he suggested. CGCGCD... I'm sure that's what he said.

I'm working on a couple of other songs on this topic (The Song of James the 1st and the Song of Alice Nutter). I hope they'll all have different feels to them. If you have suggestions let me know.

The Song Of Alizon Device (Pendle Witch Song No 1)

I was born one of these music gifted kids. “Singing before talking, making rhythm before walking” kinda stuff. You know.

When I was nine I learned the “4 chords” on the family’s second hand Höfner copper stringed jazz guitar and the necessary moves I learned from watching their black and white television set.

And I took it the whole way. From garage to the inner capital city club circle topping in the late 1980’s and early 1990’s.

My music is Lager Rock.

Lager Rock can be viewed as a kinda Rock n Roll toolbox which style’s was strangely sandwiched in between the Rock n Roll mainstreams of its day.
Lager Rock weld three Rock n Roll mainstreams together: Punk Rock, New Wave and classic electric Guitar Blues Rock.
It emerged in London in the late 1970’s and early 1980’s and spread like a bushfire all over Europe.
Pure condensed energy my friends.

I have and I will all ways play Lager Rock!
Through out my life, besides playing Lager Rock, I’ve been doing a ton of odd jobs from business consulting to flying airplanes. But I have never ever being anything close to selling my guitar and leaving Lager Rock and in that way too Rock n Roll.

But when my life moved into its fifty’s my not so healthy lifestyle caught up with me and in the last six years it seems like Grim Reaper now and then raised his tent in my back garden. You know just to stay close in case.

As I was spending my time mostly negotiating with Mr. Reaper a strange thought came to my mind. 
I have never issued any of my music. 
Oh yes I’ve made demo’s en mas but never ever a single, EP or album. 
Then and there I took a swift decision. Now it’s time!!!!

And here I am ladies and gentlemen. In my early sixties recording and issuing - senior - Lager Rock and of course also with a classic DIY invented title: DIY Senior Lager Rock Streamer.

So what’s the big chromed shining truth here?
1. I’m still alive and well and…
2. Rock n Roll WILL NEVER DIE.
