It’s the pealing of alarms 
Over the beating of our hearts
It’s the echoes of the sirens as they speed past in the dark

Don’t ring the bells before the house is burning down
We will be hearing them forever
Don’t freeze your heart just ‘cause there’s ice out on the ground 
Just wait for changes in the weather.

I am leaving, it is over 
Call an Uber, call my father
Please just lock the door behind me. 
Here’s the key because it’s over
