City Of Levitations

A track from my opera (in development) called "Fifty Yards To Freedom", which tells the tale of Anna as she confronts her fear and trauma with the help of Figment, the embodiment of her self-protective instincts. In this duet, Anna (the soprano) is pursued by the Darkness (the bass) a malevolent force that seeks to drain her of hope.

Cold To The Touch (from my opera "Fifty Yards To Freedom")

One of the closing pieces from my developing opera "Fifty Yards To Freedom," which tells the story of Anna as she confronts her fear and trauma with the help of Figment, the embodiment of her instinct for self-preservation.

In this chorus, the malevolent Darkness (the Bass) tells Anna (the soprano) that she must seal her fate by stepping into one of three bright lights. The benevolent Moonbots (tenor chorus) try to help her, as the Darkness attempts to drain her of hope.

Wie ein zartes meeresrauschen begleitet uns dieses kleine Musikstück in eine andere fast dahinschwebende Zeitinsel. 
All die Gedanken die wir zuvor einst in den Sand gemalt, verwischen die Wellen.

Im Grunde bleibt nichts als nur ein flüchtiger Traum in der Mitternacht.

"Midnight Suite" (08/24/2024)

Like a gentle sound of the sea, this little piece of music accompanies us to another, almost floating island in time.
All the thoughts that we once painted in the sand are blurred by the waves.

Basically, nothing remains but a fleeting dream in the midnight.

Midnight Suite

The sound at the beginning of this track is the sound of the conch shell, a sound that is 18,000 years old, originating from ancient coastal civilizations! After piercing a hole in the shell, either at the tip or on one side, the player blows into it to produce sounds similar to those produced by a hunting horn or trumpet. It is one of the oldest surviving musical instruments. For this track, I’ve use rare recordings, from the award winning production Laya Project, a journey of music and visual discovery through six countries affected by the 2004 tsunami. It is authentic and organic folk instruments and vocals, recorded in the remote villages of Indonesia, Thailand, Myanmar, India, Sri Lanka and Maldives using warm Neve and SSL preamps and Neumann vintage tube mics. The instruments used for this track were recorded in India.

A neoclassical testament to the value of retreat,
where silence gives birth to the most profound expressions,
contrapuncting the noise of our world.

This is the 2nd movement of my Symphony "Alive!".

Composed in the silence, solitude and fears of the Pandemic Lockdown.

„Arie der Hoffnung“ (29.09.2024)

Wie häufig möchten wir die Hoffnung bei all den derzeitigen Zuständen auf unserer Welt hinausschreien.
Meine Komposition könnte auch eine mahnende Hymne an die Vernunft sein.
Wenn diese flehende Arie und der mitunter dramatische Aufschrei verklungen ist, lasst uns darüber nachdenken.
Die Hoffnung wie eine ARIE weitertragen damit diese niemals verklingt und in uns klingt, damit wir nicht vergessen was es für eine kraftvolle, harmonische Schwingung ist.

“Aria of Hope” (September 29, 2024)

How often do we want to shout out hope given all the current conditions in our world.

My composition could also be a warning hymn to reason.

When this pleading aria and the sometimes dramatic outcry have died away, 
let us think about it.

Carrying hope forward like an ARIA so that it never fades away and resonates within us so that we do not forget what a powerful, harmonious vibration it is.

The Sparrow And The Hawk

I'm a composer with credits for film and concert music, and my music has won or been nominated for awards from Western Canadian Music Awards, the Independent Music Awards, the Geminis, and funders such as the Canada Council, Saskatchewan Arts Board, FACTOR and the SOCAN Foundation. 

In April, 2021 I received my PhD in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Regina, where I wrote a thesis on algorithmic music and its impact upon the composer. during that time I created several apps, including a musical score for the university campus using augmented reality on an iPhone.  

I am based in the Toronto area, and would love to hear from anyone who wants to comment on my music, who might want to collaborate on a project that needs a great score, or who just wants to say "hi."
