Sometimes when I paint, I find it hard to lay down that first brushstroke of paint. I get inside my own head. Why? I don't know. Maybe it's a lack of confidence that I can do a painting yet again. Maybe I'm afraid of messing it up. 

I lack confidence in myself and it's something I do try to work on. I think a lot of us hold ourselves back from doing something we want to do. Our brains love to tell us we cannot do something even when we really want to. So we stagnate. 

Life is about living. We can't live life in fear of messing up. Messing up can happen, but it's those times we learn more and more about ourselves and we can make it a positive. We have to take the first step. Start with the sky. Lay down the blue or grey or whatever. 

Paint the Sky. 

Start with one step at a time. Move forward. Paint the clouds. Paint a happy little tree. Be proud of yourself for investing in yourself. Take a trip. Read a book. Learn to play an instrument. Try out a new recipe. Whatever it is. Don't hold yourself back from what can be a rewarding experience that brings a positive vibe into your life. 

We need to build ourselves up with more positive behaviors and it is then we can push out and minimize the negative and the darkness that can creep in when we become stagnant and stay in one place. 

Move forward.

Music and mental health go hand and hand together. Music can influence my mental health and my mental health can influence the music I listen to and play. 

Life needs to be more playful. We don’t always have time for this in the path of life, but I feel strongly that we have to make room for play, whatever that may look like for your life.

Dare to be weird! Do you. Do what makes you happy and don't let what you think others might think stop you from trying! 

I play all the instruments you will hear. What I play I do try to tell an aspect of my mental health/illness story with  each song whether it be original or a cover. 

We need to normalize talking about our mental health. We need to normalize it being ok to ask for help if we need it. I know I’m glad I finally did. It has changed my life. A ton of battles fought along the way, as nothing likes to come easy, as you already know. 

We gotta fight. We gotta keep pushing forward. The good is still there and you can and will find it again.
