I decided to branch way out and try something I have never tried before. Full on orchestra style song, playing each instrument on the keyboard. Not just an "entire orchestra" setting on the keyboard. I used the recording equipment I have down in my basement music room/area which consists of a blue-yeti podcast mic, an acoustic guitar amp, and GarageBand to capture it all and did the best I could do. Truly a chemistry experiment! 

I recorded 23 different instruments/tracks for my keyboard orchestra. 20 of them on the keyboard and the other 3 on my drum set (cymbals, snare, bass drum). 

I then built out the "orchestra" into proper sections and adjusted each instrument setting slightly, to help fill out the sound, and make it seem like each entire section with each individual instrument. 

It’s certainly not perfect by any means, but I’m happy with it especially with all the moving parts that had to come together in some fashion. 

It has more of a movie score feel to it, as that's usually what I listen to in the classical sense of music. I love the classic composers, but I find I always gravitate back to the movie scores.

This was quite the endeavor, at least it was for me. It was very enjoyable and I really got into trying to play each instrument on the keyboard. I've only been playing the piano/keyboard for a little over a year so it also was very educational. 

I think most of us know who we really are, or who we should be, or want to be, or could be, and can be, either again or for the first time. So why do so many of us hold ourselves back in so many ways? 

I know I'm not alone in this. 

This is the stuff I think about. 

What am I afraid of? It's so crazy these completely messed up and illogical shackles we put on OURSELVES and not the doings always of someone else or anything else for that matter.

A "me vs. me" thing.

You already know who you are. Who you truly are! We have to fight and figure out how we can get out of our own way and begin to find, to discover we really can be who we already are. 

Who we REALLY are! It's there!

Who You Already Are

Music and mental health go hand and hand together. Music can influence my mental health and my mental health can influence the music I listen to and play. 

Life needs to be more playful. We don’t always have time for this in the path of life, but I feel strongly that we have to make room for play, whatever that may look like for your life.

Dare to be weird! Do you. Do what makes you happy and don't let what you think others might think stop you from trying! 

I play all the instruments you will hear. What I play I do try to tell an aspect of my mental health/illness story with  each song whether it be original or a cover. 

We need to normalize talking about our mental health. We need to normalize it being ok to ask for help if we need it. I know I’m glad I finally did. It has changed my life. A ton of battles fought along the way, as nothing likes to come easy, as you already know. 

We gotta fight. We gotta keep pushing forward. The good is still there and you can and will find it again.
