The guest for the inaugural Pinky’s Powerhouse Podcast, launching Wednesday, April 2nd is Addison Morris, the founder and CEO of the Women’s Cannabis Chamber of Commerce. 

The traumatic event that impacted and altered the course of Addison’s life occurred in 1969, shortly after she turned 19. Addison was abducted off a street in Aurora, Colorado, brutalized, beaten, assumed dead and dumped in a shallow grave. 

“My story is not about what happened to me, it is about how I dealt with the demons, darkness and fear that consumed my life. My story is how I struggled to find the person I was before and reimagine and build my future.” Addison Morris

Tonja attended San Diego State for a semester and a half studying anthropology. She went on to earn an associate degree in Arts from Mesa Community College from Mesa, Arizona and holds an associate in applied science degree in System and Networking Administration from Hudson Valley College in Troy, New York. Tonja graduated from Albany State University of New York in 2016 while making university history by being 1 out of 7 people to graduate with the new Bachelor of Science degree in Digital Forensics from their business department.

Tonja has always been invested in the community and being of service where needed. She organizes and produces fundraisers for women’s shelters, veterans in need of medical marijuana, gay rodeo, and ACLU NextGen.

She won the title of Ms. Arizona Gay Rodeo Association 1997 and Ms. International Gay Rodeo Association second runner-up 1998. She was able to raise more than $10,000 for Sojourner Center, a battered women and children’s shelter in Phoenix by doing several fundraisers throughout the year

Tonja volunteers at the San Diego LGBTQ Center, San Diego Pride Festival, the Imperial Court de San Diego for the annual Scott Carlson & Dan Ferbal Thanksgiving Community Dinner. 

While in Albany, New York, Tonja was 1 of the 13 couples who fought against the state of New York to get the Same Sex Marriage Act on the ballot. She was in the chamber when the New York Legislation was voting on it when it passed!
