The record's opening track, 'Eva's Stoned', is a heavyweight 4/4 techno club tool. Rolling layers of drums are peppered with choice vocal cuts from Jay’s good friend Eva, which were pulled from late night voice notes shared between them.

As thunderous sounds began to morph into a lost language, the measure of light started to fade and the air filled with the smell of soaking grass. Her worries began to crumble as the pink sky shed light on the tapestry-covered tent. It was on that day that the beating sound separated emotions of discontent from reality and forced her into a new realm built for that very moment. There she entered a new realm of friendship, love and euphoria that didn’t exist anywhere else...

Fast rising DJ and producer Jay Carder makes her mark on Kassian's Faux Poly imprint with her debut EP Entropy, a deep dive into UK bass, techno and breakbeat. Her connection to these sounds is key to her musical energy and ethos, which she's steadily built over the last eight years. Getting her start throwing events with collective 4 To The Floor London, Carder now holds a residency for London-based Voyage events and runs her own party series ‘House of Carder’ which has hosted the likes of Bruce, Breaka, Dr Banana and K-Lone.

Faux Poly welcomes Jay Carder to the family with her debut EP Entropy, a headsy blend of UK Bass, Techno and Breakbeat.

Jay is already one of the busiest DJ’s in the UK, bubbling up rapidly because of her stellar DJ sets that step effortlessly between sub-genres of Techno, Bass and Garage. Since linking up with label bosses Kassian several years ago, Jay has been working out of their studio (38 East) in Hackney Wick to refine her sound and prepare her first release. The result is a gorgeous and carefully considered set of club tracks that faithfully reflect her DJ style and energy, this one is not to be missed.

A note from Jay on the EP: “The idea of Entropy has always fascinated me – the idea that the world is always degrading/moving into disorder and towards chaos. As humans we are always trying to actively stabilise this. Which feels like a good way of describing this EP”

Jay Carder delivers her take on UK techno with a hefty dose of bass, breaks & 4/4. Expect a concoction of percussive heavy leftfield & lighter psychedelic sounds.

"This mix starts with five tracks from five women that I really look up to and whose music is always an essential part of my selections. I feel it sets the energy perfectly for the rest of the hour; powerful, strong and beautifully unpredictable. The mix as a whole demonstrates the darker side of my sound; I imagined deep rollers reverberating off the walls of fabric; sweaty bodies deep in the dance occasionally coming up for air. Obscure female voices pepper the mix – a reminder of the club’s shared liminal space. My DJ sets are always based around energy; drums, techno rollers and downright weird and wonderful sounds to keep you moving through the dance. The mix closes out in a big crescendo followed by two tracks from myself; a glitchy 160 roller (out today on Wisdom Teeth!) and a triumphantly trippy remix by Tom Jarmey of my track ‘Reverse Disorder’."

"This is a mix of folk, classical, film, jazz and patriotic music recorded in India between 1920-1950. I wanted it to be a little trip to a time we’ve all studied in school but rarely explored musically.
For music in languages I don’t speak and cultures I don’t know much about I have a few friends helping me out so I’ve quoted them directly. I don’t remember having so much fun in putting a mix together ever."
