DIVISION Mix Series

I'm beyond thrilled to be able to present episode 005 of my mix series 'DIVISION'! This mix features a lot of new music that's been the sound track to my life as the seasons have changed. Spring is in the air and change is coming. This selection is a bit of a mix bag, while listening you will notice a few changes in feel and a few left turns but what can I say, I like what I like.. :)

The artwork for this mix is titled "Cottage" and it created by one of my best friends, Coblou. She's been an inspiration in my world for many years so it was a great honour to have her work included for this edition of 'DIVISION'. When I look at this piece, I imagine dancing under the summer sky and completely letting go. It sounds silly to some but dancing in the company of friends is something I miss dearly. Until then, hopefully this mix will encourage you to make some time to get lost in a dance and to connect with your body and elevate your state of being.

It's been way too long since I put out a mix for this series that is near and dear to my heart. To say it's been a difficult year would be a great understatement but I'm thankful for every second of it. AfrOSpins PT1

Bogotá duo Rush City — aka Jonahlo and Joint4Nine, and heads of the Ritmo Terco label dig deep into their crates for this second vinyl outing, delivering four razor-sharp reworks that balance nostalgia with dancefloor punch. Spanning boogie, Italo disco, electro, and deep house, each track is reimagined with a tasteful blend of analog grit, acid textures, and precise drum programming.

Opener “When Your Ex Wants You Back” breathes new life into Surface’s 1984 boogie anthem, fusing its soulful acapella with 808 rhythms, acid basslines, and shimmering synths for a raw electro-funk twist. Following “Brown Sugar”, lifted from a rare 80s adult film soundtrack, becomes a dubbed-out, indie-leaning acid disco tool — weird, seductive, and undeniably effective.

On the B-side, Dream 2 Science’s deep house classic “My Love Turns To Liquid” is transformed into a hypnotic acid roller, stripping things back while keeping the soul intact. Closer “Don Quichotte” rebuilds Magazine 60’s Italo gem from the ground up — with re-recorded vocals and fresh synth work, it’s a full-throttle electro bomb.

Patterns Audio Exchange w/ CHE - 28.12.20

If you're reading this, congrats! We made it through 2020. I couldn't think of a better way of celebrating this occasion other than sharing some of the music that has been near and dear to me ranging from 2010 - 2020. It was a hard year in many ways but it also acted as a reminder for me to smell the roses and to acknowledge that I've been blessed to have a supportive community of friends in Ottawa and beyond who inspire me to the moon and back.

The artwork for this mix was created by multimedia artist, Christallalla. It's a mixed media illustration titled "s w I m m" and it really captures the feeling of what I was trying to convey with this selection of songs.

Digging Deeper w/ Nat Gohl - 17.02.21

Proud to present my set recording from the inaugural MOTION, a boutique 3-day music and arts gathering held over the new year on the banks of the incredible Gippsland Lakes. 

I was lucky to receive an extended playtime for the penultimate slot of the party - I started out slow in the late afternoon, before moving into some more upbeat party territory; played some big melodic tracks for sunset, and closed out with some deep vibes just as nighttime settled in for the last few hours of the festival.

I dug deep into my music catalogue for this one, taking to the decks with a playlist of over 250 tracks and no concrete game plan going into it. The set takes listeners on a journey across deep + melodic house, afro house, indie dance, dark disco, progressive house, breakbeat, melodic techno, tech house, organic house, with even a bit of rock influence thrown in there! Very happy to say this is one of my best sets to date, I really hope you enjoy.
