People have asked, people have been patient, but now people get ready. After snapping up their limited edition 45 singles on Kept Records and Electric Cowbell Records, DJs, funk fans, vinyl heads and instrumental afro-enthusiasts alike will finally be able to lay their hands on a full-length Polyrhythmics platter.&#13;

This is a funk record. No suspenders, emotional folksy rock ballads, vocoder or synthesized soul will be found on this release. Multiple-horns, multiple rhythms, and multiple players. This album is a straight-up instrumental attack, where the only voice you hear is the collective force of these eight players hitting all original cuts live and off the floor. Let’s be clear about it: Polyrhythmics are not trying to emulate or recreate something that has already been done. This is not “retro,” or “throwback;” this is music being made together, today in The Now. The raw, fresh and genuine sounds captured on Libra Stripes are an instrumental testament to the universal groove and appeal of funk and afrobeat music, and present a clear call to everyone to get up and occupy the dance floor.&#13;

After what feels like an eternity, Tom Booze is back on Bombstrikes! Once again he is flexing his producer credentials, delivering two funked-out monsters of outstanding quality. The eponymous track 'Some Funk' and second track 'Shak Ya Body' see Mr. Booze tipping his hat to 80s funk, distilled with up-to-date Electronica. Imagine the Mothership touching down in present-day New York and this would be the resulting sound. We have heard some of the music Tom Booze has brewing and never one to be constrained by something as simple as traditional genres, he is about to drop some top-shelf material!

Two of the funkiest humans on the planet, famed Ibiza resident Mr. Doris and Brit down under, D-Funk, have teamed up to provide a brace of funked up beauties just in time for the summer session at Jalapeno Records.

Both producers are no strangers to what makes a dancefloor rock with D-Funk holding down residencies at the best spots in Sydney while Mr Doris has been long time resident at the world’s greatest nightclub Space, and now Pacha, programming venues with the cream of the world’s funk infused DJ’s to play on the white isle.

'Feel Good' features Cantaloop and Nell Shakespeare rocking the mic over a sample driven slo-mo groove while 'Back in the Day' features the man they call MysDiggi, getting his reminisce on over a sample from a very well known kids TV show.

Smoove is the archetypal B Boy made good. Despite his huge international success with Smoove & Turrell and his ability to craft jazz, soul, latin, hip hop and funk into world beating dancefloor killers – he can still be found every weekend he’s not playing live jumping on a plane or a train to go and DJ in Germany , Russia , Italy, Ibiza or just down to Manchester,  Bristol or London wherever his diary tells him he has to go..

Wherever it is, his incredible skills behind the decks mean that he gets asked back and the breadth of the music seamlessly joined by his turntablist skills jumps from disco to funk, jazz to soul, hip hop to house and back again. 

The endless flights, trains and hotel rooms are dead time to some DJ’s but Smoove is always creating new tunes for his set on the fly and working his different influences into the remixes and productions he is currently on. There were at least 40 remixes that could have been  included on this album but in the end he chose the ones that worked best together and made the album flow like one of his legendary DJ sets.

The album contains a number of exclusives including the Smoove remix of the new Third Degree track and a killer smoove remix of Afrka Bambataa, Charlie Funk and King Kamonzi. The Smoove remix of Da Wiesel has only ever been available on vinyl before and his amazing remix of Electric Empire remains unreleased (unbelievably) in many European territories.

Smoove started his recording career for the legendary Acid Jazz label releasing two albums as a solo artist before signing to Jalapeno Records with partner John Turrell to release two hugely successful Smoove & Turrell albums. Their last album was playlisted extensively at Radio 2 and tracks from the album have been used in more than ten film and TV syncs – making Smoove & Turrell  the new darlings of the LA film community.

Smoove is touring with the Smoove & Turrell live band, recording the next S&T album, DJ’ing every weekend and he also just became a dad.   Where does he find the time ?

Between MC Andy Cooper’s opening count in, to the memorable end credit shout outs, their latest feel-good hip-hopper crams in more breaks, more funk, and more raps, into a single than the group has ever dared before. 

Built around an earworm double bass lick and some neck-snapping drums, the track forms the perfect backdrop for the LA rhyme-slayer let us know that, “On stage I’m calm as a Decepticon/That transforms from Gandhi to Genghis Khan”, before dropping his fastest verse…ever. Yes! And if you’ve heard their blistering early sure shot collabo, ‘Rock Rock’, then you know that’s no mean feat. 

Sweating as their go-to mic man ups his game, the production duo of Rackabeat and Moneyshot dutifully raise theirs, digging harder and chopping wilder with the music. They swerve in slick samples and cheeky vocals. Spin back cut sections and take breakbeat U-turns. Yet the ex-Ugly Duckling frontman never falters, relishing the challenge. 
It makes for one wild ride, leaving you panting for more. Proving that sometimes ‘2 Much!’ is never enough.
