On a recent trip to New York some record shops were visited. Here's a mini mix of some choice bits picked up.

M.A.D Digs In N.Y.C

Tour-Maubourg is a leading light in France’s thriving underground music scene. He has been an entrenched part of Pont Neuf Records ever since the label’s inception, his releases have cast him as one of the country’s most exciting producers of the genre in recent years. Now, Spaces Of Silence further showcases the eclecticism of his sound, forming a body of work that blurs the lines of soulful house, nu-jazz and everything in between. Add to that a fast-emerging touring schedule that has seen him play in Paris, London, and Berlin amongst others, to see that 2022 has been a career highlight for the Frenchman: and long may it continue.

To celebrate the launch of Spaces Of Silence, Tour has brought his A-game to the SB mix series for your listening pleasure. Enjoy.

Joe Worley. Founder of independent music and arts festival, Westival. Comfortable going in any direction, you will find him spinning Disco, House, and other Balearic sounds, to Garage, Jungle and Trance, depending on the setting/time of day. His sets are always of an eclectic nature, twisting and turning, keeping the audience on their toes. Living by the slogan ‘if it’s good, it’s good’, gives Mr West the freedom behind the decks to explore many genres rather than being fixated by one sound or style. From DJ’ing at the festival and other club events around the UK, he has had the opportunity to support artists such as O’flynn, Peach, Dr Banana, Alec Falconer, Dan Shake amongst others.

"This mix was recorded as an ode to Westival. I pictured sounds I’d be likely to hear over the weekend, most likely at the Garden stage, an outdoor setting next to the bar that has a fun upbeat nature throughout the day and night. Imagining the crowd throwing shapes at the front, and others indulging from the many sofas dotted around the tent. The mix starts off with some of my favourite South African bits, then onto many variations of House; Italo, 90’s, Hip, Garage, Soulful, it covers the lot. I had loads of fun putting this selection together, and if you enjoyed the tunes, then grab yourself a ticket for Westival as you’re guaranteed to hear a bag of this throughout the weekend!"

Deep Inspiration Show Records presents a new series showcase of international Deep House connoisseurs, The Various Artist "Global Essence Sampler” Aptly named, each composition on "Global Essence" reflects a distinct mood of Deep House, bringing both authentic flavor & variety to your musical menus. 

First up is A1 - Precious Path performed by Allstarr Motomusic (Spain, Greece, Switzerland) aka Dan Piu; a rare yet always top quality project, with appearances on Deep Explorer, deepArtsounds, and Soul Print. Precious Path opens the record with a groovy statement into smooth Garage House seasoned with a little Deep Techno personality.

Next, is Spain’s maestro Barcé (Moto Music, HC Records), making his 2nd appearance on DISR with A2 - Clean That Shit. Of course it’s clean, deep electronic House and it vibes like a nice summer cocktail at night with lime and ice.

Rounding out the first side is A3 - Zahara, composed by Zarenzeit; a more organic project side from Zürich's Dan Piu that can go between 80s funk to House and Jazzy Soul seamlessly. In Zahara we experience the ambient, and early morning sun vibes that are meant to set moods not genres.

On the flip we welcome Japanese producer Jank (Boogie Cafe Records, Quintessentials) to DISR with B1 - What Becomes Of. This Classy composition is Chilled out, perfectly minimal, with sensual vocal samples, and easy on the ears; the DJ who plays this at prime time will definitely get plenty of cheers.

Representing Croatia and South Africa as well as closing out the record is; Jan Kincl (Cycle Records, BBE) featuring Ishfaq & Wolford Heifer with B2 - 3300 Gratiot Ave. Its a classic late night and smoky type of House affair with an almost bluesy vintage feel that is sure to appeal to listeners that know the real deal.
