Born in Guadalajara (Mexico), Jorge Ortega Jr. also known as MaddJazz migrated to the south side of Chicago (USA) with his family at the age of 6. Influenced by many great local musical movements he fell in love with music and became curious about the DJ world at a very young age.

MaddJazz has been honing his innovative style Since 1996 when he got his first after school/weekend job and saved up for a pair of turntables at age 14. Within a few years he was already DJing at raves, loft parties and clubs. Influenced by these early raves as well as his start in the turntablism scene where he won or placed in numerous DJ Battles including the Chicago DMCs and Guitar Center Spinoffs, MaddJazz blends his favorite House, Techno, Rave, Hip Hop, Bmore, Jersey Club, Ghetto, Juke, and Latin elements in the attempt to find inventive ways to showcase the emergent Chicago sound.

In 2007 Maddjazz played an important role in forming the DJ / Production crew Ghetto Division which later went on to become an independent record label. By 2010 his debut solo EP titled 'Mind Of A MaddMan' was released which gained support and recognition Internationally. MaddJazz has made raves, clubs and festivals bang across the country (USA) and has brought his sounds to international countries like Belgium, France, Germany, Mexico, Poland, Puerto Rico, Spain, Colombia and has collaborated with and remixed a list of well-respected individuals.

In 2013 & 2015 respectably MaddJazz was selected to compete in the Red Bull Thre3style DJ championships where he placed 2nd in the Chicago qualifier both years. MaddJazz had strong performances and made a statement that he is one of the best that Chicago has to offer.

After a 2 year Hiatus during the Covid pandemic MaddJazz has rediscovered his love and passion for music and has been back in the studio working on new productions and remixes. He has recently been working with a number of clients, venues and companies DJing many different events including weddings and private parties. In July 2024 Maddjazz was added to the roster of official DJs for the Chicago White Sox, a team he has been a loyal fan of since the first time he attended a game at the age of 9.
